  • Late night gambling story

Had to share this one...last night was a pretty fun night. Girlfriend was out of town, so it was a night to bet games and play some late night poker. I won some on sports, so decided to up my ante on the poker tables playing a NL 500 game. Anyway, the end of the story is my ace high flush got knocked out for all I was worth by a 1 outter-the guy caught a straight flush with the river.

So I proceed to get hammered, as my dream of the iphone went up in smoke with a 1-outter.

I wake up with only this play for my last $150 in the account:

    2007-06-19 02:24:38 3 Play $15.00 Round Robin Unsettled
BA 53 6/19 DETROIT: C DURBIN AT WASHINGTON: SIMONTACHI DETROIT: C DURBIN (-150)
    BA 57 6/19 LOS ANGELES N: B PENNY AT TORONTO: D MCGOWAN LOS ANGELES N: B PENNY (-127)
BA 59 6/19 MINNESOTA: JO SANTANA AT NEY YORK N: J SOSA MINNESOTA: JO SANTANA (-133)
BA 71 6/19 TAMPA BAY: J HOWELL AT ARIZONA: D DAVIS ARIZONA: D DAVIS (-123)
BA 73 6/19 BALTIMORE: S TRACHSEL AT SAN DIEGO: J PEAVY SAN DIEGO: J PEAVY -1.5

Anyway...AZ just tied it off Reyes (I think his first blown save) and I need all the bettorschat karma possible to pull out this AZ game and get me back into iphone territory.

            Love it!

It was a 3-way round robin at $15 each, so that paid out pretty much $70 for each of the 10 round robins. So my 150 turned into around $850...and I'm back to where I was before the 1-outter...now I'll withdraw my $400 for the iPhone and call it a night.

Granted, I would be at $1,500 if the dang 8 of spades didn't pop up...oh well...

            THANKS FOR THE KARMA FOLKS!

I know it is. I'm a stalker...been here for a couple of years now. I get uneasy about posting picks just because I hate the feeling of losing someone coin, as I've done both good and bad riding players in here...

This site is a great reference. I tell tons of people about it. Really love the idea of pooling picks from independant cappers. Gotta love the wisdom of crowds...It's better than a service for sure.

Thanks for the support Tech-you're one of the guys that makes this a solid place.

Glad to see you got your iphone. Just wondering. If Arizona had not come back for you, how much would you have still won, going 4-1.

Round Robins are fun...it's like a mutual fund for bets. Limited downside good upside. You just don't want to be .500 (which we are all so very often) because then you usually lose around half your overall bet when usually you would only lose the juice.

going 4-1 in a 5 team 3-way round robin means winning 4 parlays, losing 6. so for me, the 4 wins would've been around $70 each, meaning I win $280 and lose the $90, so +190 or get back around $340. Not bad, considering if I wanted $150 of downside, and bet $30 each on 5 games, I would've won $90, or have $240 in the account.

The bad part of 3-way round robins is when you get the 2-3 (returns nothing) or 3-2 days (lose half overall investment).

                    I recommend round robins when:
                    a) there are favorites you like, but hate paying the -150 e.g. juice.
                    b) you want the upside parlays provide
                    c) you just lost a 1-outter in poker and it's 3AM with a few whiskey drinks in you.
