  • Earned run question

I have Wang of the Yankees on one of my fantasy teams. They credited him with an earned run tonight. How can that be an earned run? They had 2 outs and Wright struckout. Should be 3 outs but Posada dropped the ball and Wright made it to first. Next guy hit a double and scored Wright. How is that an earned run? Wright's strikeout should have been 3 outs. Shouldn't this be an unearned run?

It is considered a passed ball and not an error. That's why it was a earned run.

It still should be unearned in my opinion. Wang still got credit with a strikeout. That strikeout should have been out #3. Oh well, I guess 8 innings and 1 run isnt bad.

I agree but your opinion doesn't influence the official rule book. lol

It is no different than a guy bunting with 2 outs and the pitcher throws wildly to 1st. If he comes around to score, it is a unearned run. Why when the pitcher fucked it out? He should still be charged with it when the error is his own.
