Watching him in the Pistons series and watching last night I came to this conclusion. Lebron is the next coming of Jordan. How can I say that seeing a 4-16 performance from the floor?
Lebron simply took over against Detroit. He shot, rebounded, and took over when his team needed him to. To say he imploded in game 1 last night has some truth to it, but not a lot. The Spurs are the class of the NBA. They have depth, they shoot, and they play the best defense of any team by far.
From what I see, the difference between Jordan's team and Lebron's is simple. Jordan had role players who could hit open shots. He had role players that actually played. They played defense. They shared the ball. The Cavaliers do not have guys that can consistantly hit shots. It is easier to double and triple team Lebron than it was Jordan for this reason alone. Both are great players and in the end, both will be considered 2 of the best there ever were.
While Cleveland thought Larry Hughes was an asnwer to giving Lebron some help, he obviously was not. Ilgauskas is one of the poorest excuses for a big man I have ever seen. Drew Gooden is Cleveland's Dennis Rodman. He is not as good a rebounder, but a better offensive player. Any point guard the Bulls put out there would be heads and tails above Eric Snow in my mind. Just looking at the two teams it is very easy to see why it was just a little easier on Jordan. Not to take anything away from him or make an excuse for Lebron but it is simple to see.
I wish we could switch roles and have Jordan play on this Cavs team in his prime. I think the outcome might be the same. He dominates when he has to, but ultimately gets befuddled by a team who plays Defense like the Spurs do.
Just would like everyone's opinion on this as this is how I see it. Both are great players, probably 2 of the top 5 in the end. Just do not see Lebron winning without some guys who play harder and can hit a few open shots.
