  • Question about doubleheaders

What is everyone's opinion about game 2 of a doubleheader?

Regardless of the quality of teams, 50% of all doubleheaders SHOULD be swept, correct?

Paying kinda close attention, I am feeling that about 80% of all doubleheaders are SPLIT......this leads me to believe that one should hammer the loser of game 1, in game 2. Granted, the juice should get you if the Marlins should sweep today, but Atlanta losing game one would make me believe that the Braves win game 2.

    Anyone have stats on this?

    How bout opinions?

    Thanks

If anything, the home team has an advantage in the 2nd game. I believe that someone has done the research on this one before.
Circumstances do not make the man; they reveal him.

          you play each game individually.....reasons

It's not uncommon for a team to lose 2 in a row, or win 2 in a row....

Team A loses first game, and faces same team in G2, with their #1 pitcher, and the odds are -270, you mean to tell me you'd take Team A cause the odds are 50-50 they won't lose 2 in a row.....That would be a terrible way to cap a game....

Thats like betting on a team thats lost 7 straight, cause they're due to win, that goes against, who's hot, who's not, capping method.......

Simply put, IMO, playa and cap the second game, as you would it being the only game, regardless of who won the first.......

          Another example
Team A loses first game with their ace pitcher, game goes 14 innings, they use up entire BP, 3 starters got hurt, and will sit out second game, Team B is throwing their Ace, and you'd bet Team A, cause they lost the first one....

Hope I made my point....don't even factor that in....kapt

Cause, If that theory ran true, there'd be tons of Parlance Bettors (Wise Guys), sitting by waiting year round for Double headers, and then betting millions on a regular basis....after the first game was played...

not trying to make a point either way, just wondering if anyone has stats about the % that teams get swept in a DH situation....

for instance, I am more likely to have taken the Marlins tonight, simply because they lost earlier today. If the same game was played tomorrow, I would probably lay the huge odds with Smoltz, but since the Braves won earlier...I take the Fish.

Just trying to start a conversation....and see if anyone has stats to back up this theory

I was thinking of playing Atl GM 1 and if they lost double up on them in GM 2, but decided to pass. As I remember I've did this before and got pounded.

I tend to think double header games split though.

do as you wish----I still say you play em individualy, and don't factor in who won or lost the first.....

What if it's the 2nd and 3rd game of the series.....and the winning team has won 2 in a row, do you then start factoring in, the won't sweep theory....

The losing team in game one, has now lost 7 in a row, do you factor in, they've got to win sometime....

Too many variables to isolate a game on who won the first one.....

Make a request to FrankB for stats on this, and If he's available, and has the time, I'm sure he can give you the stats you want....kaptain
