  • Roy Oswalt has NEVER been beaten by the Snakes

I have been watching RoyO since his debut as an Astro, and the fact that his winning % is in the Top 10 lifetime of all active pitchers proves he is worth his weight, and maybe a little underrated.

That said, anyone paying attention of late has noticed that the anemic attempt of a ML team Houston has been trotting out during the recent 7-game losing streak, being outscored 58-12, is hardly competitive.

There are no locks in baseball, or any other sport upon which wagers are made, but if you get a chance to get an underdog against a team in this kind of funk, it is difficult to pass on.

58 to 12. No ten-run-rule in MLB, but still, does anyone else get the feel they are watching a youth game with these guys? Jeez.

The Saturday game was made close by an 8th inning 2-run HR to cut it to 5-4, but that is as close as it gets for the locals these days.

No guarantees, but Livan Hernandez +115 or 120 seems like a value play to these jaded bitter old gambler eyes.

    Just an FYI

I have fattened the bankroll of late going against my favorite team, cuz I know where the money trail is, however much it hurts to cash .

Oswalt has never lost to Arizona. In seven starts, he's 6-0 with a 1.98 ERA, having allowed 11 earned runs over 50 innings. D-backs hitters are batting .236 against the ace right-hander.

I love the analysis, GrandPa. What do you think about the under?

Thanx Grandpa- I am confused - Should Houston be in the position of Arizona!

7 losses is enuff - Houston has its troubles but I side with the Stros today. Thanx!

The Astros, meanwhile, have stranded 21 baserunners in this series as slugger Lance Berkman continues to struggle. Berkman is hitting .160 (8-for-50) with no homers and four RBIs over his last 14 games, and he's 3-for-21 (.143) in six games against Arizona this year.

Berkman has had some success in his career against Diamondbacks starter Livan Hernandez (4-2, 3.66), going 9-for-26 (.346) with two homers.

Hernandez was on the losing end against Oswalt on May 12, when he was tagged for season highs of eight runs and 11 hits over a season-low four innings. He fell to 1-2 with a 7.77 ERA over his last four starts versus the Astros.

i like stros today also.... Oswalt faced the giants his last 2 starts and was 0-1 . his last time out he went 7 and gave up 9 hits and 4 runs.. the game before that he went 7 and gave up 4 hits and no runs... i think roy is due for a W and will settle down... this game will boil down to if the astros lame bats will get some support for this guy... all he needs is a few run lead and he will do the rest

Oswalt's away and day splits are not very good this year, and despite the fact that he is perfect v the Snakes, and the team is looking for the ace to end the team's skid, it is going to need a breakout day from the sticks, that have plated only 12 runs during the 7-game slide.

Hernandez has not fared well v 'stros in his career, so everything points to an Astros win here today.
