Hey folks, with May winding down, I havent done a GOM yet for MLB and with so much speculation and "closeness" of todays Pitt/Stl game, I have really come to like St. Louis in the matchup. St. Louis happens to be going for the sweep, which they despertly need, the momentum is with the Cardinals as the Pirates have lost 4 straight and continue to have batting and pitching problems galore.
I have to agree with Spear It and all the trends he has found for this game, here's some other stuff I like about todays game..
Gorzelanny isnt a dominant pitcher in that he strikes out 10-12 batters a game like Johan Santana. He puts the ball in play and relies on his defense to make the plays around him. 6 total strikeouts is the season high for Gorzelanny. He averages just 4 streikouts a game and he's pitching late into the game averaging over 6.5 innings a start. St Louis is going to put the ball in play and they hopefully have come out of their slump and can start finding some holes and hit the ball.
As close as some people may think the game is...
Pittsburgh is 6-18 SU in its last 24 games when playing on the road against St. Louis
brings it a little bit less close I believe by that stat... and...
Pittsburgh is 2-6 SU in its last 8 games on the road
brings it a little less close for me as well...
happens to be 5-1 last 6 games at home.
Cardinals strike out less than any team in the league with 5.0 per game. Which should be another reason why Gorzelanny aint going to strikeout more than 5 batters today.
Do and play whatever you would like, but just know im putting a 3 unit game of the month on the line today starting in just over 30 minutes at 1:10 on STL
