          Cleveland at Detroit
The Pistons remain a tough team to peg as they can go from looking great on the road in Chicago (witness the series clincher) to sleepwalking at home (witness Game One versus Cleveland). Just what Detroit team will show up tonight is difficult to tell, but a clearer pattern has developed around the Cavaliers. Unfortunately for Cleveland, that pattern is a stumbling offense. Even with Chauncey Billups and Tayshaun Prince having off nights, the Cavalier offense couldn't take advantage as they mustered only 76 points on 37 percent shooting. Cleveland hasn't topped 90 points since Game Two of its series against New Jersey and has averaged just 81.6 ppg since that time. Those numbers don't look good considering Billups and Prince should have better games tonight. Detroit looks like the pick to cover the Vegas line (-5 1/2) according to Dunkel, which has Detroit favored by 7. Dunkel Pick: Detroit (-5 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

          THURSDAY, MAY 24

          Game 707-708: Cleveland at Detroit
Dunkel Ratings: Cleveland 123.694; Detroit 130.723
Dunkel Line & Total: Detroit by 7; 171
          Vegas Line & Total: Detroit by 5 1/2; 175
          Dunkel Pick: Detroit (-5 1/2); 175

            Thursday, May 24

Los Angeles Angels at Detroit Tigers (-152, 9)

Ervin Santana’s struggles on the road get a lot of mention around these parts, and with due cause – the 24-year-old continues to lose every road start he makes and is now 0-4 with a 7.86 ERA in five starts away from L.A. this season.

Santana has a 1.97 WHIP and a .414 opponent’s on-base percentage in those games. He will be faded every time he goes on the road until he shows he can win a game. It’s as simple as that.

Jeremy Bonderman will start for Detroit.

            Pick: Tigers -152

Seattle Mariners at Tampa Bay Devil Rays (+103, 10 ½)

Mariners starter Horacio Ramirez apparently graduated from the Ervin Santana school of pitching. The 27-year-old left-hander is 4-0 at home with a 2.19 ERA in four home starts, but is 0-2 with a 13.17 ERA in three road starts.

He’s up against a Devil Rays lineup that hits as well as any team in the majors at home. Tampa Bay’s 31 home runs at Tropicana Field this year are the third most in the majors. The Rays are also averaging 4.6 runs per game in their home park.

Tampa Bay has also been a strong home bet over the last three years. They are 133-134 at home over the last three seasons and have earned 23.05 units, meaning anyone who bet a dollar on every Tampa Bay home game since the beginning of the 2004 season is up $23.05.

Jae Seo will pitch for the Rays.

            Pick: Devils Rays +103

Cleveland Indians at Kansas City Royals (+119, 10 ½)

The Indians' play at home belies their performance on the road. Cleveland has lost six of its last seven games away from home and are 10-13 on the road overall. That streak includes back-to-back losses to Kansas City to begin their three-game series.

The Royals also bring one of their strongest arms to the hill tonight in left-hander Jorge De La Rosa. The 26-year-old is 4-3 for a struggling Royals team and has a 3.59 ERA. He has been even more effective at home, where he is 3-1 with a 2.39 ERA.

Another left-hander, Jeremy Sowers, will pitch for the Indians.

            Pick: Royals +119

Chicago Cubs at San Diego Padres (-133, 7 ½)

Jason Marquis has been masquerading as one of the National League’s top starting pitchers, but that is beginning to unravel. Last year’s NL leader in home runs allowed has a 7.36 ERA in his last two starts (both no-decisions) but is still 5-1 with a 2.76 ERA on the season.

He will go up against one of the league’s most underrated starters. Six-foot-10 right-hander Chris Young has allowed just one earned run in 20 1/3 innings at home this season, good for a 0.44 ERA.

The Padres are also among the hottest teams in baseball. They are 7-2 over their last nine games and have earned 5.13 units.

            Pick: San Diego -133
