I am very frugal with my baseball plays but I like all three of these games quite a bit and am playing them all.
1* Reds/Padres OVER 7 1/2 (-110)
There are two big keys to this play: a) David Wells and b) the Reds go over the total every night. Wells is close to finished and has given up 17 earned runs in his last 22 innings and, worse 32 hits in those 22 innings! Cincinnati has gone over 10 of its last 12 and 12 of its last 15. This is a very low total given how much Cincy scores and how badly Wells is pitching.
1* White Sox +143
John Danks is developing into a very nice young pitcher. The White Sox are back home after playing decently on a long road trip. While Mussina has pitched well, the Yankees simply aren't scoring runs. They've scored two or less three of their last four games. The White Sox have a winning record, the Yankees don't and the Sox are at home.
1* Angels +113
Even if this pitching matchup were even---and it isn't---you'd just take the better team (the Angels). But this isn't an even pitching matchup. Escobar has been the best pitcher in the league this month. Hernandez, on the other hand, is making his first start in a month and will likely be on a restrictive pitch count. Angles have won five of their last six and have scored 33 runs in their last five games.
Listed pitchers always.
