  • JR. Leaving DEI

Fox Sports reports Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be parting ways with his step-mother Teresa as a driver for the team his father started in 1980 Dale Earnhardt Inc. I think he'll end up where his dad was, with Childress Racing, hey who knows maybe we'll see the #3 back on the track next.Thoughts, comments welcome.

As big as a Jr and DEI fan as I am, I'm glad to see him leaving to go to a team where he can win and compete on a consistent basis

So why is he waiting until the end of the year? Or is that a nascar thing.

He doesn't have any other car to drive right now

He's under contract and Teresa will enofrce the contract because of the Budweiser sponsorship.

I frankly don't know how DEI survives this. They are a small team and their two biggest assets, the drivers, have quit.

Sponsors follow drivers, not teams. Teresa is going to be forced to hire somebody young like AJ Allmendinger or ashed up like Sterling Marlin (if he's still alive).

On the other hand, Junior is up against it too. Nobody has been a successful driver/owner since Alan Kulwicki
