    Detroit at Chicago
The Bulls came into the series riding the momentum from defeating the defending champion Heat. But Detroit quickly brought Chicago back to earth with two resounding wins that saw the Pistons outscore the Bulls by an average of 23.5 points and outrebound them 97-68. While heading home may provide some relief for Scott Skiles' shaken team (33-10 record), it should not intimidate the Pistons, who are 29-14 away from home straight up and 29-13-1 against the spread. Detroit looks like a good underdog pick (+2 1/2) in this one according to Dunkel, which has the Pistons favored straight up by 6. Dunkel Pick: Detroit (+2 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

      Ottawa at Buffalo
There is plenty of heat between these two teams as they square off in a rematch of last year's second-round series in which Buffalo eliminated Ottawa in five games. Adding fuel to the fire was the hit Ottawa's Chris Neil put on Chris Drury on Feb. 22 that sparked a brawl and caused Drury to miss four games with a concussion. The Senators also look to be coming into this series in better shape than last year. Ottawa closed out the regular season by going 31-7-8 and is 8-2 in the playoffs after eliminating Pittsburgh and New Jersey in five-game sets. The Senators' top line of Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza, and Dany Heatley has been clicking with 21 of the team's 33 postseason goals. Ottawa looks like a dangerous underdog in this one according to Dunkel, which has the Senators favored straight up by 1/2 a goal. Dunkel Pick: Ottawa (+1 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

      THURSDAY, MAY 10

      Game 51-52: Ottawa at Buffalo

            Hot Lines

            Thursday, May 10

Tampa Bay Devil Rays at Baltimore Orioles (-148, 9)

Daniel Cabrera is still wild, but he’s getting the job done. The 6-foot-7 right-hander has four quality starts in seven appearances this season and allowed just one run in seven innings in his last start against Cleveland.

He’ll face another loaded lineup tonight in Tampa Bay. The Rays are 13th in baseball with a .730 OPS after finishing second last in the league last season. Though they have been reverting back to their old ways recently, posting a.685 OPS over the last week, during which time they are 2-4.

Casey Fossum will start for the D-Rays.

            Pick: Orioles -148

Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays (-139, 8 ½)

Tim Wakefield’s knuckleball has traditionally been more effective in domes. He proved it earlier this year in Toronto, allowing one run in seven innings in a 4-1 Red Sox win, and again in his last start in Minnesota, shutting out the Twins in seven innings.

Toronto general manager J.P. Riccardi says the organization “would be stupid” not to open the roof tonight despite the forecast calling for a chance of rain.

Boston also brings in a lineup hitting .314 over its last six games. Red Sox batters will face Roy Halladay, who had one of the worst starts of his career on Saturday against Texas, allowing nine runs and 12 hits in 5 1/3 innings.

The Blue Jays have lost eight straight games.

            Pick: Red Sox +131

San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies (-115, 9 ½)

Only two teams, the Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals, have fewer home runs at home than the Rockies do at Coors Field this season. Colorado faces a San Francisco team that is among the best in the National League in hitting on the road, boasting a .262 batting average and a .752 OPS.

The Giants also bring one of the most under-the-radar pitchers in baseball to the mound in left-hander Noah Lowry. The 26-year-old has quietly gone 4-2 with a 3.29 ERA in six starts for San Francisco this season.

Aaron Cook will start for Colorado. He is 0-1 with a 6.50 ERA in three home starts this year.

            Pick: Giants +107

              Streaking Pitchers

              Thursday, May 10

              HOT

Kelvim Escobar (Los Angeles Angels) – Since returning from a back injury, Escobar has been lights out. He has won his last two starts while allowing just three earned runs in 14 2/3 innings. The Angels have won each of Escobar’s last three outings, playing under in the last two. L.A. is a –128 favorite against the Cleveland Indians today.

Noah Lowry (San Francisco Giants) – After dropping his first two outings of the season, Lowry has reeled off four wins in a row with some solid pitching. The lefty faces the Colorado Rockies today, a team that's 0-7 in its last seven games against left-handers. Books have the Giants set as +104 underdogs.

              COLD

Jeff Weaver (Seattle Mariners) – To say that Weaver has been a bust for the Mariners this season would be a massive understatement. He has yet to record a victory, going 0-5 with an outrageous 15.35 ERA and allowing six or more runs in four of his five outings. Oddmakers list the M’s as +217 underdogs against the Detroit Tigers today. The total is set at 9 ½.

Jeremy Sowers (Cleveland Indians) – Coming off a bright rookie season last year in which Sowers went 7-4, he has not been able to carry it over to this season. The sophomore is still searching for his first win and is carrying a hefty 5.87 ERA while recording just eight strikeouts in six trips to the mound. The total for the Indians’ matchup with the Angels is set at nine.

              Other Notables

Roy Halladay (Toronto Blue Jays) - Halladay is 4-1 with a 3.59 ERA and two complete game victories this season.

David Wells (San Diego Padres) - Wells faces the Atlanta Braves today and has a career 3-0 record and 1.61 ERA against them.

                Thursday, May 10

Ottawa Senators at Buffalo Sabres (7 PM ET)
This series is a rematch from last year, when Buffalo eliminated Ottawa - the East's top-seeded team - in five games in a second-round series. EDGE: SABRES
The Senators closed the regular season by going 31-7-8 and are 8-2 in the playoffs, needing five games each to eliminate Pittsburgh and New Jersey. EDGE: SENATORS
The UNDER is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Buffalo.
The Senators are 7-16-2 in their last 25 meetings in Buffalo.

                NHL
Ottawa Senators at Buffalo Sabres (-134, 5 1/2)
This should be a high-scoring game with both teams coming in with plenty of
adrenaline and speed - and we're not talking about recreational drugs. These
two teams met in the playoffs last year and played eight highly competitive
                games in the regular season.
"There's no question that we've had good games against Buffalo," Sens coach
Bryan Murray told the Ottawa Sun. "Having been in the playoffs against them,
there's no question that you build up a real rivalry."
Ottawa's second-line center Mike Comrie missed two days of practice this
week because of an injured shoulder. Murray said Comrie would be ready to
play in time for tonight's game.
The Sabres should win the opener because of home ice advantage. Including
the regular season, Buffalo has won 10 of the last 11 games at home.

                Pick: Sabres -134

                  Additional

                  Detroit Pistons at Chicago Bulls (-2 1/2, 184 1/2)
This series will not be a sweep. The Bulls haven't done much to encourage
bettors to lay any money on them but things should change at the United
Center. Chicago was one of the best home bets all season going 24-17 against
the spread in the Windy City.
Detroit backers will point out that their team was one of the best road bets
during the regular season, but the Pistons high-shooting percentage should
take a dip in Game 3. Detroit has made 18 of their 37 attempts from 3-point
range - 14 percent higher than their number in the regular season - through
the first two games of the series.
"I don't want to say they're playing over their heads because they're a
great team, but their numbers are higher than usual," Bulls guard Ben Gordon
told the Chicago Sun-Times. "We have to be more aggressive defensively and
make them miss those shots. We can't have them out there getting confidence
                  early."
Chicago was a victim of many traveling and illegal screen calls in Detroit.
The calls should favor them at home in Game 3.

                  Pick: Bulls -2 1/2

Boston starter Tim Wakefield has faced Toronto twice this season, going 1-1 with a 2.77 ERA. EDGE: RED SOX

Cook is 0-1 with a 6.50 ERA in three home starts this year and is looking for his first home win over San Francisco since July 2003. EDGE: GIANTS
