    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Los Angeles Dodgers at Atlanta Braves (1:05 PM ET)
Los Angeles starter Randy Wolf is 4-9 with a 4.83 ERA in 21 career appearances (19 starts) against Atlanta. EDGE: BRAVES
Wolf is coming off back-to-back losses after winning three games in a row. He's allowed 11 runs and 16 hits in his last 11 2/3 innings of work. EDGE: BRAVES
Atlanta starter Kyle Davies is yet to pick up a victory in 2007, going 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA. EDGE: DODGERS
The OVER is 5-0 in Wolf's last five starts overall.

San Diego Padres at Florida Marlins (1:05 PM ET)
San Diego ace Jake Peavy has been magnificent this season on the road, going 2-0 with an 0.45 ERA. He's allowed just eight hits and one run over 20 innings away from Petco Park this season. BIG EDGE: PADRES & UNDER
Florida second-year starter Scott Olsen has thrown just one start against San Diego, but it was a gem. He allowed one run and two hits over seven innings while striking out eight batters. EDGE: MARLINS
The Padres are 2-9 in Peavy's last 11 starts versus the NL East.
The OVER is 7-0 in Olsen's last seven Sunday starts.

Oakland Athletics at Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1:40 PM ET)
Oakland starter Joe Blanton is 1-2 with a 6.94 ERA in five career starts against Tampa Bay. In 23 1/3 innings, he's allowed 44 base runners to reach base - 33 hits and 11 walks. EDGE: D-RAYS & OVER
Both of Blanton's victories this season have come on the road, posting a perfect 2-0 record with a 4.44 ERA. EDGE: A'S
It hasn't been "Home Sweet Home" for Edwin Jackson at Tropicana field this year, as he has gone 0-1 there with a 8.59 ERA. EDGE: A'S & OVER
The Devil Rays are 0-6 in Jackson's last six starts.
The UNDER is 14-3 in the Athletics last 17 games versus a right-handed starter.

Boston Red Sox at Minnesota Twins (2:10 PM ET)
Boston's Curt Schilling is making only his fourth career start against Minnesota since most of his success against them has come from the bullpen. He's 1-0 with a 1.03 ERA in nine career appearances against the Twins. EDGE: RED SOX
Minnesota starter Sidney Ponson will likely have a rough time this afternoon, as the right-hander is a dismal 3-10 with a 6.69 ERA in 19 career starts against Boston. BIG EDGE: RED SOX
Ponson is coming off his best start of the season, a 9-1 victory at Tampa Bay. He went a season-high seven innings, allowing one run and five hits. EDGE: TWINS
The Red Sox are 16-5 in their last 21 games as a favorite.
The UNDER is 23-4-2 in the Red Sox last 29 road games versus a right-handed starter.

Colorado Rockies at Cincinnati Reds (3:15 PM ET)
Colorado right-hander Josh Fogg is a solid 6-2 with a 4.03 ERA in 13 career starts against Cincinnati. EDGE: ROCKIES
Fogg picked up his lone victory on the road this season, going 1-1 with a 3.47 ERA in four starts. SLIGHT EDGE: ROCKIES
Reds starter Bronson Arroyo finally picked up his first win of the season last time out, after failing to get one through his first five starts. He allowed one run and three hits over seven innings, as the Reds beat the Astros 11-2. EDGE: REDS
The Reds are 1-6 in Arroyo's last seven starts.
The OVER is 13-3-1 in Fogg's last 17 starts overall.

Chicago White Sox at Los Angeles Angels (3:35 PM ET)
White Sox starter Mark Buehrle picked up his first loss of the season last time out against these Angels at Chicago. The left-hander is 1-4 with a 4.19 ERA in 12 career starts against them. EDGE: ANGELS
Los Angeles right-hander Bartolo Colon looks to remain perfect at home this season, as he's 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA in two starts at Anaheim Stadium. EDGE: ANGELS
The Angels have provided plenty of run support during Colon's three starts this season, scoring a total of 25 runs. EDGE: OVER
The UNDER is 10-3-2 in Buerhle's last 15 starts overall.
The OVER is 5-1 in Colon's last six home starts.

New York Mets at Arizona Diamondbacks (4:40 PM ET)
New York right-hander Mike Pelfrey is still in search of his first victory of 2007, going 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA. The Mets have been outscored 25-13 in his four starts this season. EDGE: D-BACKS
Arizona's Livan Hernandez is 10-12 with a 4.70 ERA in thirty career starts against New York. SLIGHT EDGE: METS
The Diamondbacks are 5-0 in Hernandez's last five home starts.
The Mets are 1-6 in Pelfrey's last six starts.

Philadelphia Phillies at San Francisco Giants (ESPN | 8:05 PM ET)
San Francisco rookie Tim Lincecum will be making his first career start after going 4-0 with a 0.29 ERA with Triple-A Fresno. Lincecum is the team's top pitching prospect, striking out 46 in 31 innings, including 14 against Colorado Springs last Sunday. EDGE: GIANTS
Philly second-year lefty Cole Hamels has struggled in his last two starts, going 1-1 with a 5.68 ERA. Hamels has just 10 strikeouts during that stretch after notching 15 strikeouts back on April 21st. SLIGHT EDGE: GIANTS
Hamels will not get to face San Francisco slugger Barry Bonds, who will take the day off after hitting his 744th career homer on Saturday. EDGE: PHILLIES

5/6/07 - Game 1: New Jersey at CLEVELAND (ABC | 1 PM ET)

      REGULAR-SEASON RESULTS

Cleveland wins 2-1 SU (New Jersey 2-1 ATS)
      OVER 2-1

      4/12/07 - CLEVELAND 94, New Jersey 76 (ATS winner: Cleve -6 | UNDER 186)
      1/6/06 - CLEVELAND 96, New Jersey 91 (ATS winner: NJ +6.5 | OVER 186.5)
      12/20/06 - NEW JERSEY 113, Cleveland 111 (ATS winner: NJ -1 | OVER 186)

REGULAR-SEASON SERIES RECAP: The Cavs have turned things around against the Nets over the last two years, winning four of the last five meetings, including two of three this season. New Jersey had won the previous five meetings and is still 12-2 ATS in the last 14 games between the teams, including 7-1 in Cleveland. All eyes will be on Cavs star LeBron James, who averaged 30.3 points in the last three games against the Nets, going for 35 or more twice. James poses a huge matchup problem for New Jersey since Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson were not at a size disadvantage in the first round against Toronto. They will be here, and it could very well be the difference as James will likely look to take over this series on his own.

                Omitted Game

#3 San Antonio Spurs at #2 Phoenix Suns
                Game 1 - Sunday, May 6th, 3:30 p.m. Eastern (ABC)

The Spurs were able to slow down the Nuggets in the first round after giving up a series-high 95 points in their Game 1 loss at home. Denver averaged just 86.5 points in the last four games - all losses. San Antonio will be facing a far superior offensive team here though in the Suns, who averaged 108.4 points in their series win over the Lakers. SLIGHT EDGE: SUNS
While there is certainly a contrast of styles here, there are also two key individual matchups that will shape this series. San Antonio's Tony Parker averaged 28 points in the season series and is almost too quick for Phoenix's Steve Nash to guard. Look for the Suns to utilize Sixth Man of the Year Leandro Barbosa a lot more to make Parker work more on defense after he averaged 21.2 points per game in the first round. Amare Stoudemire also poses a difficult matchup inside for San Antonio's Tim Duncan. It was just two years ago that Stoudemire averaged 37 points against Duncan and the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals. SLIGHT EDGE: SUNS
San Antonio is 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings in Phoenix.
San Antonio is 12-5 ATS in the last 17 meetings overall.
Phoenix is 11-4 in its last 15 games vs. Southwest Division opponents.
Phoenix is 10-4 ATS in its last 14 Sunday games.
UNDER is 8-0 in San Antonio's last 8 games.
OVER is 9-3 in Phoenix's last 12 Sunday games.

                Head-to-Head Recaps
SECOND-ROUND SCHEDULE (HOME team in CAPS)

5/6/07 - Game 1: San Antonio at PHOENIX (ABC | 3:30 PM ET)
5/8/07 - Game 2: San Antonio at PHOENIX (TNT | 10:30 PM ET)
5/12/07 - Game 3: Phoenix at SAN ANTONIO (ABC | 8 PM ET)
5/14/07 - Game 4: Phoenix at SAN ANTONIO (TNT | 9:30 PM ET)
5/16/07 - Game 5: San Antonio at PHOENIX (TNT | TBD)
5/18/07 - Game 6: Phoenix at SAN ANTONIO (ESPN | TBD)
5/20/07 - Game 7: San Antonio at PHOENIX ( TBD)

                REGULAR-SEASON RESULTS

San Antonio wins 2-1 SU (Phoenix 2-1 ATS)
                UNDER 2-1

                4/5/07 - SAN ANTONIO 92, Phoenix 85 (ATS winner: SA -4 | UNDER 205.5)
                2/1/07 - PHOENIX 103, San Antonio 87 (ATS winner: Pho -6.5 | UNDER 206)
                11/8/06 - SAN ANTONIO 111, Phoenix 106 (ATS winner: Pho +5.5 | OVER 206)

REGULAR-SEASON SERIES RECAP: Home court was the deciding factor in all three meetings this season, with the first going OVER in overtime. San Antonio's Tony Parker was the top overall player in the season series, gettng the best of Phoenix's Steve Nash by averaging 28 points per game. The Suns obviously love to run, and the Spurs are better at adapting to this style of play with Parker and Manu Ginobili, who scored 32 points off the bench in the second meeting. Phoenix has a much more difficult time when it becomes a more defensive-minded game, proven by the last meeting. Whichever team can dictate the tempo more will likely win this series and become the favorite to represent the Western Conference in the 2007 NBA Finals.

                    Colorado at Cincinnati
Josh Fogg's road ERA (3.51) is two runs better than his overall ERA (5.52) and the Rockies' two wins in his starts have both come away from home (at Arizona and NY Mets). Conversely, Bronson Arroyo's home ERA (3.86) is over a run higher than his overall ERA (2.62) and the Reds have lost both his home starts. Overall, Cincinnati is just 1-5 in games Arroyo has started. New Jersey at Cleveland
The Cavs swept Washington in the first round, but it's hard to saw they were really tested as the Wizards played without Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler. They'll run into a team today playing at full strength as the Nets used the experience of their Big Three (Carter, Kidd and Jefferson) to put down the younger Raptors in six. In the Nets' stretch run, they have played some of their best ball on the road and are now 4-0-1 against the spread in their last five, including 2-0-1 against the Raptors. Cleveland has been average at home (22-20-1 ATS on the season) and was just 1-1 against the undermanned Wizards. In head-to-head matchups, the Nets have dominated in recent years and are 12-2 ATS in the last 14 contests. New Jersey looks like a good underdog pick (+6 1/2) in this one according to Dunkel, which has Cleveland favored by only 1. Dunkel Pick: New Jersey (+6 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

Toronto Blue Jays at Texas Rangers

Some things you just can’t explain; you just have to accept them. Are the Texas Rangers a better baseball team than the Toronto Blue Jays? Probably not, but when you look at the record between these two clubs over the last few years, it’s obvious that the Rangers know how to take the Jays out of their comfort zone. Since 2003, Texas is 37-14 against Toronto, including yesterday’s 11-4 beating in which they made Roy Halladay look like a little leaguer. Today they get a shot at the unpredictable A.J. Burnett, who’s coming off a nasty loss to Cleveland in his last start.

                          Pick: Rangers +105

Chicago White Sox at Los Angeles Angels

Bartolo Colon has made a couple of good starts since coming back from the DL two weeks ago, but the jury is still out on the Angels’ right-hander. The White Sox are in a funk right now, but they snapped a five-game slide with yesterday’s win and with Mark Buehrle on the hill, they have a good chance to cash in as road dogs and get back on track in what has been a disappointing start to the season.

                          Pick: White Sox +120

Philadelphia Phillies at San Francisco Giants

If you don’t believe a young pitcher can make an impact in his major league debut, just think back to Cole Hamels’ coming-out party last year. Now the Phillies’ No. 2 starter, Hamels came up from Triple-A as a big prospect at this time last year and pitched five scoreless innings and allowed only one hit in a game in an eventual 8-4 Phillies win as -138 favorites.

But Hamels didn’t have to do it in front of a national television audience like the Giants’ young gun Tim Lincecum will do tonight. The kid was last year’s NCAA Player of the Year and he has a microscopic ERA this year in Triple-A, but he’s never seen the bright lights of big league ball and playing in ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball showcase game won’t be an easy way to make an entrance. However, if everything they say about Lincecum is true, oddsmakers are giving us a great price on the Giants at home.

                          Pick: Giants +120

                            Sunday, May 6

                            Hot

Cole Hamels (Philadelphia Phillies) - While the young lefty has been solid 3-1 with a 3.54 ERA on the season for the Phillies, it's Hamels' numbers away from home that has books taking notice. He is 2-0 on the road so far this season with a stellar 2.82 ERA. Phillies backers have also benefitted from Hamels' ability to overpower hitters, as he has 28 strikeouts in just over 22 innings pitched. This strong rap sheet has oddsmakers favoring the Phillies on the road tonight in San Francisco, setting Philadelphia at -130.

Bronson Arroyo (Cincinnati Reds) - Arroyo has picked up right where he left off last season when he was named to the NL All-Star team. Arroyo is undefeated since mid-April with a sparking 1.71 ERA for the Reds, -165 home favorites today against the Colorado Rockies. Digging even deeper into the stat sheet, the former Boston starter has a .225 OBP against and 0.86 WHIP during the streak.

                            Cold

Mike Pelfrey (New York Mets) - There's a reason the Mets are keeping old arms like Orlando Hernandez around - because pitchers like Pelfrey have been absolutely brutal. Pelfrey is 0-3 for the Mets this season, with an atrocious 8.16 ERA over his last three trips to the hill. The right-hander's biggest problem has been keeping runners off the bases, as Pelfrey has posted a .402 OBP against on the season. Books have the Mets as suspect -114 road favorites today against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Kameron Loe (Texas Rangers) - When you hear talk of the Rangers having no pitching, picture this guy. Loe has looked like he belongs in Double-A recently, putting up a 7.98 ERA and 1-2 record since April 16. With the Rangers as +109 underdogs at home today against the Toronto Blue Jays, Texas bettors can take little solace in Loe's 6.59 home ERA and 1.68 WHIP at the Ballpark in Arlington.
