    Buffalo at NY Rangers
New York tightened up its defense in Game Three as was able to come away with a double-overtime win (2-1). But keeping the Sabres' offense quiet won't be easy considering Buffalo led the league in goals (308) and was the only team to have four players with at least 30. Of equal concern is the Rangers' inability to get past goalie Ryan Miller after tallying 17 goals in a sweep of Atlanta. Miller had 44 saves in Game Three and has a 1.98 GAA and .931 save percentage in the postseason thus far. The Sabres look like a good underdog pick tonight according to Dunkel, which has Buffalo favored straight up by 1/2 a goal. Dunkel Pick: Buffalo (+1 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

      HOT

Brad Penny (Los Angeles Dodgers) - Penny has been nothing short of spectacular to start the season. The right-hander has a remarkable 1.95 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in five starts and has not allowed more than three earned runs in a single contest this season. Penny is 1-0 at Dodgers Stadium this season with a 2.45 ERA and 1.31 WHIP, leading the Dodgers to a 2-1 record. Overall, the Dodgers are 7-2 in Penny's last nine starts in Los Angeles, while the Diamondbacks are 1-6 in their last seven meetings with the Dodgers.

C.C. Sabathia (Cleveland Indians) - Sabathia has been on fire for the AL Central leading Cleveland Indians. The left-hander is 3-0 with a 3.18 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP and is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA at Jacobs Field. The Indians are 5-0 this season with Sabathia on the mound and are 8-2 in the lefty's last ten starts against AL East squads. Sabathia is 2-2 with a 4.25 ERA in four home starts against the Blue Jays in his career. Furthermore, the Indians are 9-1 in their last ten meetings with the Blue Jays at Jacobs Field.

      COLD

Edwin Jackson (Tampa Bay Devil Rays) - Edwin Jackson is in the middle of a considerable winless drought. The right-hander has not won an MLB start since Sept 26, 2005 and is 0-3 this season with a ridiculous 6.10 ERA and 1.74 WHIP. Things only get worse for the Devil Rays. Tampa Bay is 0-5 in Jackson's last five starts, while the Twins are 5-1 in their last six meetings at Tropicana Field. Oddsmakers list the Devil Rays as -102 home underdogs tonight against the Minnesota Twins.

Mark Redman (Atlanta Braves) - To state that Mark Redman is struggling this season would be an understatement. The veteran left-hander is 0-3 with an astronomical 10.12 ERA and has allowed more than five earned runs in three of his starts this season. Furthermore, the lefty hasn't lasted past the third inning in two of his four starts this campaign. Overall, Redman is 3-1 with a 3.94 ERA in five career starts against the Phillies. The Braves are listed as +118 underdogs for tonight's contest at Turner Field.

                  Hot Lines

                  Tuesday, May 1

Florida Marlins at New York Mets (-140, 10)

Mets rookie right-hander Michael Pelfrey’s seat is getting hotter and hotter by the minute. After getting lit up by the Colorado Rockies in his last start, allowing six runs in only three innings, team management is considering demoting the youngster if he continues to struggle.

Pelfrey won’t get any breaks today when he faces the best hitting team in baseball, the Florida Marlins. The Fish are averaging just under six runs per game on .282 batting, including a nine-run effort against New York on Monday night.

The 24-year-old Pelfrey has a 7.90 ERA in three starts this season. He's only pitched past the fifth inning in one game, putting in just over 13 total innings of work. He has six strikeouts and seven walks this season.

                  Pick: Marlins +132

Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves (+117, 9)

                  Who likes strikeouts?

Anyone who’s craving the K will get their fill tonight when the Phillies left-handed dynamo Cole Hamels takes the bump against the Atlanta Braves. In his five starts this season Hamels is 2-1 with a 3.24 ERA and 37 strikeouts.

His lethal arm is poison to the Atlanta Braves who have swung and missed 185 times this season, fifth most strikeouts in the National League. Last time they faced Hamels he whiffed eight and pitched seven shutout innings, giving up only four hits before the Phillies bullpen blew the save in the ninth.

Hamels has a 3.93 lifetime ERA against Atlanta and a 1.50 ERA in Turner Field. Philadelphia is 4-0 in his last four starts as a favorite.

                  Pick: Phillies -126

Chicago White Sox at Seattle Mariners (-115, 8 ½)

Posting the MLB's worst batting average is bad. Having your two top hitters out of the lineup is even worse.

The Chicago White Sox are minus key batters Scott Podsednik and Jim Thome after the two went down with injury the last two weeks. Podsednik was leading the team with a .303 average before suffering a groin pull. Thome has five home runs and a .340 average, but has missed the last four games with strained ribs.

Taking these bats out of a Chicago lineup that is hitting a miniscule .225 at the plate has White Sox averaging under three runs per game in their last four contests. They are 1-4 during this stretch.

                  Pick: Mariners -115
