  • N.L. Central Clash

Woody Williams and Kerry Wood square off in this weeks marquee match-up , as the Cards & Cubs battle in a pivotal meeting.

    Wood [ 0-1 , 7.20 era , 1.90 whip ] has struggled against the Cards this season , while Williams [ 2-0 , 2.66 era , 1.14 whip ] has been stellar in three starts against the Cubs .

Any suggestions on this one fellas ???

Woods has been complaining of a bad back over the past month or so. He says it is a problem that has plagued him since he was young. Now is the back the cause of his string of terrible outings or are his struggles the cause for his complaining about it?

Never the less. Wood has been struggling over his last few starts big time.

I would put Woods 4th after Prior, Zambrano and Clement.

          Prior is no brainer.

Zambrano coming on strong and wants to run with the big dogs.

Clement had a terrible start and has done a great job just to get back to 500. He is definately pitching better than Woods.

This is probably not good for you John!

St. Louis is my ONLY play in MLB of the night! What I normally stick on all the other games....I'm loading it on this one.....especially after the STL loss last night and Pujols broke out of the slump he was in with a solo shot. GOOD LUCK BIG GUY...I FOR ONE SEE IT THE SAME WAY AS MEMPHIS.....I like the pitching matchup. Goldvike

              Agree

I agree I'm all over this St.Louis Game they will take out the Cubbies tonight. They will be mad from the butt kicking last night at home. Like the Revenge factor here. Also Like Woody in this spot.

              Good Luck

there is something very, very fishy about this game. . .

. . . everyone and his/her mother is on St. Louis tonight, and each for the same reasons mentioned in this thread. Williams has owned the Cubs this year, Wood has struggled recently and has had four terrible starts in a row, the Cards are fired up after being drilled last night, St. Louis always beats the Cubs in Busch Stadium, etc., etc.

Then why did the line on St. Louis with Williams open at a mere -130? And why has that line stayed at that level throughout the day at most books, risen mildly at one or two others and dropped at one or two others? It can't be just because of the playoff significance and the rivalry. This game should be an absolute mismatch warranting a line of at least -150, bid up to -155 or -160 by gametime.

Anyone else have a funny feeling about this line?

                  Joe Public wins. . .

. . . as the fucking Cub bullpen is god awful, giving up 4 runs in the bottom of the eighth. I don't know why Baker even bothers with Alfonseca anymore. Farnsworth is equally maddening. These guys can't get batters out unless they have a 5 run or greater lead and come in with no runners on base. Wood out-pitched Williams and deserved better.

A win is a win, though, right? Congrats to all Cardinal bettors. I'm steamed both as a Cub fan and as a gambler (had the Cubbies +120).
