The mets played at home and the Philies are playing now.I think it had more to do with the pitching problems the yankees are having and knew they would have to call up a minor leaguer to pitch tomorrow.Instead they chose to cancel the game so now Pettitte will pitch tomorrow and they miss having to start a minor leaguer.Smart move.

That's strictly an "Umpires" decision........kapt
PS---for the record, I think the Yanks are gonna start P Hughes Thursday, brought up from AAA Scranton, where he was 2-1, 3.94 ERA, 16 IP, in 3 games, 17K/4BB ratio........this is why the line is off the board at some places....
Who's gonna pitch for the Yanks today ?????????????
Don't make me go Cajun on your Ass!

Now that used to be the rule;perhaps it has changed in the last year or so, but if it did, I wasn't aware of it.

This taken from Official baseball rules would seem to back me up regarding who is in charge before the game starts:
Unless the home club shall have given previous notice that the game has been postponed or will be delayed in starting, the umpire, or umpires, shall enter the playing field five minutes before the hour set for the game to begin and proceed directly to home base where they shall be met by the managers of the opposing teamsLast edited by savage1; 04-26-2007, 09:45 AM.
