No one wants to give him credit for today, but if he had popped out, everyone would say he sucks in the clutch.

Also...i'm pretty sure everyone in this thread would kill to have him on their team.
I'm a Red Sox fan and i agree with this 200%

Games in April mean just as much as the ones in September do. The ones in October well ... Lots of great athletes have struggled in the postseason in their career and still won MVP's and earned HOF status. Anyone hear of Peyton Manning?

P.S. I would trade any bat on my team for A-Rod yesterday if given the chance. I hate the Yankees but as a baseball fan, i respect his game like no other. I'm sorry but i do.

I told BillMill before the season when talking fantasy baseball that A-Rod shouldn't go any lower than 2nd overall in ANY MLB Fantasy draft. If i had the 1st or 2nd pick, i can promise you, he would have been off the board!

In our fantasy league, I was picking 6th and A-Rod had slipped past 4th. I had my fingers crossed, but the guy at 5 took him.

Still not sure if I would taken him over Reyes. Reyes is putting up big numbers for me in another league.

No no no....that's not what I meant.

My whole point in putting the two together is this....

A Rod tears is up in the regular season and then fades in the playoffs...it's happened year after year after year.

Braves of the 90's....win the division year after year after year, but what happened in the playoffs? Faded.

They are not losers...but they sure as hell weren't a dynasty my friend. A dynasty is a team that wins the titles, not just the divisions.

Good teams? Yes, of course. A Rod a good player? Yes of course....

but they share the same common theme....they choke in the playoffs.

              No disrespect intended......

Again....let me reiterate that 80% of my comment were toungue in cheek toward T-Mac and his new man crush ARod...and they were mostly to get him riled up as usual.

What you said and what Wayne said is 100% true, and I don't disagree one bit. You can't win divisions in April, but you can sure lose them.

HOWEVER....Unless he comes through in Sept and Oct at least one time in his career, what is going to be his legacy? April is one thing...but that's not going to define your career.

IMO ARod is a great player.

Even if he doesn't win a title....he'll still go down as one of the greatest players of all time. He'll just have that big 3 letter word behind his name...BUT he never won a c-ship!

We'll see. That's what everyone was saying about Peyton Manning. Maybe this is his year.

A-Rod's greatness is going to have to be acknowledged, down the road, as he's going to easily pass whatever HR total Bonds ends up with.

And I am loving every minute of his time on my fantasy team, and the team I am a fan of.

Yankee fans crack me up...they are all over his jock when he has a career 2.5 weeks...wait until he goes 5-for-46 during a stretch of games and fails in the clutch...then you will hear the boo's and the 'I never wanted him in the first place' comments.

I agree with Wayne and RM, he is one of the most underappreciated players in the game...and Yankee fans will never realize it. I would take him on the Mets...accept he'd have to play 2B, LF or RF....

                            The list can go on.

I enjoyed this Bill Simmons quote today from his chat...

Jesse (Indianapolis, IN): So I'm curious what you're take is on A-Rod's ridiculous start to the season. Has he finally been embraced by NY and will he play like this when it really matters? Or does he revert to the same old head case we know and love.

Bill Simmons: A-Rod is like pollen - you can always count on him to make an impact in April in May.

he's on a great hot streak but yanks are only 8-6 same old story with their pitching.
How many more titles will the Yankees try to buy it never ends.
