  • Freightdog Survivor Nearing $100,000

Whooooo- wouldn't we love to be in his position. Others have gotten this far and crapped out!
Freightdog took NY Mets yesterday- knowing possibly it would be postponed and probably thinking it would give him 7 more days to think about it. No doesn't work that way according to the rules.
So yesterday when they first posted the schedule at 2:20 pm he jumped all over the San Diego Padres against the Cubbies.
Wow- not that it is a lock but Maddox against Wade Phillips.
Maddox is 1-1 and Phillips is 0-1. Maddox has looked sharp so far (3.18 whip of 1.06) and Phillips hasn't (13.50 and a whip of 2.75). CHCubbies are a paltry 9-23 in their last 32 games as an underdog. SDPadres are 9-3 in the last 12 meetings in Chicago.
SD bull pen is better and now the clock ticks to see what the outcome will be.
Remember - if he wins this one - he can hedge the remaining survivor bet of 100,000 by betting 1/2 on the opposite side! But remember- we are greedy by nature and he may just go for it! Food for thought! Think of all the sure locks we thought were there and wasn't - He has steered the course - now the toughest is the next 2 picks. GL brother!

19 successful picks! What tout out there has hit over 65%? Not many!! Most are under 60% and others should just plain find a new job!
Maddux is 11-3 lifetime against the Cubs.
Miller is 1-2 lifetime against Padres

I've never been able to get past 8 in a row....takes a lot of patience, skill and luck - he'd be crazy not to hedge!

Holy Smokes- 14 innings and he pulls it out to grasp #20. I am on 5 in a row myself-but I guess if he wins its over. Bodo g/W agerline probably won't attempt it again- unless they have different rules making it harder.

14 innings for SD to pull it out over the Cubs- Was this guy sweating or what?
I would have been pacing and ... One to go for the big big money and folks- that will not be easy as he will wait several days putting extra pressure on himself and then he will push the button again at 2:20 pm and pray.

            Wheewwww!! I'll keep ya informed!

I realize that this is posted but here is some extra---

An astute freightdog is on the verge of making *********.com history.

A contestant on the site, operating under the user name “freightdog”, won his 20th straight game Tuesday afternoon, leaving him just one win away from $100,000.

A victory would make freightdog just the second *********.com user to take home the top prize, but the first to win the $100,000. A user known as “claudio” picked 21 straight games from Sept. 2, 2004 to Nov. 7, 2004, but the top prize then was only $10,000.

The streak belonging to freightdog is now more than two months in the making. It started with the Winthrop Eagles and Missouri St. Bears playing over the 135-point total on Feb. 16 (the Eagles won 77-66) and continued through win No. 20 on April 17, a dramatic victory that saw the San Diego Padres beat the Chicago Cubs 4-3 in 14 innings.

The first 16 wins of the streak were on college basketball, and freightdog covered the spread or beat the total by an average of 9.5 points in those games. Three games covered by three points or less, and a March 6 game between Portland State and Weber State pushed the three-point spread.

The next bet was on hockey, with the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders playing under the 5 ½-point total. After that, an NBA game saw the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings play 18 points over the 211-point total.

The final three bets have been on baseball, though neither of the first two were as dramatic as Tuesday's thrilling Padres win. On April 7, the Florida Marlins beat the Philadelphia Phillies, and four days later, the Baltimore Orioles and Detroit Tigers played under the 9-run total in a game that was still 0-0 after 11 innings (the Tigers won 4-1 in 12).

David Patrick was the last ********* member to have a shot at $100,000. He put his 20-game steak on the line on in a Sept. 30 game between the Oregon Ducks and Arizona State Sun Devils. Patrick chose the Sun Devils as a 2-point home favorite, but the game was never close. Oregon rolled out to a 31-3 third quarter lead before winning 48-13.

Common sense had many interested parties claiming Patrick must have at least partially hedged his final bet, though that has never been confirmed. Patrick banked $1,000 from ********* for winning 17 straight games.

Personally no play as I see no value in it! Haren has some good stats and Oakland is no powerhouse. Yet Bedard has been shaky and Baltimore can hit. What achoice! I would say he has a good chance with Oaklands 4-13 O/U record but Baltimore has swung the bats and had 2 overs against lefties. I am sitting on the sidelines for this one
