  • The formula for making an RL -1

Saw this and thought it might help us out!

It depends on what the line is on the game for example.. arizona is -171 right now..

    take 100 divide by 171 (run line) = .5845

    Then add 1--------------------- = 1.5848

    Divide the 100 by 1.5848 -------= 63.10

63.10 is your money line wager (pays 36.90)

place the payout 36.90 on the -1.5 (pays 42.44)

If they win by 1 you win 36.90 but then lose it on the ML and break even....

If they win by 2 you make 79.34 per 100 invested (lowering the juice to -121ish)

      Same game - another explanation!

      Arizona ML is -172.
      Arizona -1.5 RL is +132

You will always take the ML of the team you going to wager on the -1 RL with, in this case its Arizona and the ML is -172, if your betting Toronto -1 RL you will take -142, the current ML for that game.

So you got Arizona -172. With the formula take 100/172.

      100/172 = .5813

      Add 1 to .5813 which is 1.5813

      Take 100/1.5813 = $63.23

$63.23 is what you wager on the ML
$36.77 is what you wager on the -1.5 RL

      I got $36.77 by subtracting $63.23 from $100.

Betting $63.23 on the -172 ML will return you $36.76
Betting $36.77 on the -1.5 ML will return you $48.53

Add 36.76 and 48.53 and thats the payout for every $100.

So for every $100 wagered u win $85.29 on the -1 RL. Which indicates your getting the -1 RL at -117.

              Another example:

              White Sox (-132)
              White Sox -1.5 (+164)
              White Sox -1 (+111)

Instead of betting 100 to win 111 at -1, do this.
              Bet $56.90 at -132 to win $43.11
              Bet $43.11 at -1.5 (+164) to win $70.70.
If White Sox win by 1, you break even, just like the -1 line.
If they win by 2 or more, you win $113.81 instead of $111.
So, you get almost +114 instead of +111

You just have to know how much to bet on the ML, then bet all the would be profits from that on the -1.5 line. To figure out how much to bet on the ML, just do this.
              Take 100/132=.7576
              Add 1 = 1.7576
Take 100 and divide by 1.7576.
              =56.90
