    Six-Pack for Friday

-- Are baseball fans in Japan angry because some of their best players are coming here to play? I would be.........

-- Thumbs up to Reds' manager Jerry Narron, who benched 3B Edwin Encarnacion for not running out a pop up in the first inning Wednesday night.

-- Vancouver goalie Luongo's first NHL playoff game was memorable as game went 4 OTs and he faced record number of shots (76) in a Game 1 victory over Dallas.

-- Speaking of which, how about the stamina of NHL refs, linesmen? They skate whole game, break up fights, drop pucks. They have the toughest job of all the pro officials.

-- Royals' phenom Alex Gordon is hitting .091; he is being rushed to the big leagues. Lets hope he can work through it and become the player Kansas City needs him to be.

-- Under is 33-12 in baseball this week, 78-46 for the season, why are pitchers dominating so much?

Friday's List of 13: Complaints, questions, comments......

      13) Friday the 13th is one of my favorite days of any year; 13 is my favorite number, my parents were married on Friday the 13th, I just like the number 13, but the weather here in Albany completely sucks, and I am annoyed, so excuse my somewhat negative attitude. Just don't tell Vivian Stringer or Oprah.

      12) Two years ago, Jorge Cantu hit .286, with 40 doubles, 28 homers, 117 RBI, now he can't make the Devil Rays? How is this possible? Trade him to Houston for Brad Lidge.

      11) There are fourteen major league teams, seven in both NL and AL, that play either in domes or warm weather climates. Is it too much to ask these teams to play at least first week at home every season? It would greatly lessen the number of weather problems we see each spring. St Louis would be the logical team to be the 15th home team, by the way.

      10) Every time I turn on an NBA game and Kevin Harlan is at the mike, I mute game, watching it while I listen to music. He is a premeditated screamer, can't stand listening to him.

      9) Harlan's father, by the way, was longtime CEO of the Green Bay Packers, who are publicly owned.

      8) Week 4 of NFL has Pittsburgh-Arizona (Whisenhunt and Grimm were Steeler assistants passed over so Steelers could hire Tomlin,a minority head coach) and Texans-Atlanta, as newly-wealthy Matt Schaub faces his former teammates.

      7) Supposedly, Arkansas fired Stan Heath because it thought they had Billy Gillispie locked up as a replacement, but in this world, there are so many behind-the-scenes maneuvers, the word had gotten out that Gillispie could probably get job at Kentucky, as long as Donovan turned it down, so Arkansas really never had a chance to land Gillispie. Whoops.

      6) When is someone on network TV going to speak the truth and say what a shameless gunner Kobe Bryant is? Lakers are a non-team, a group totally dependent on his scoring (30-13 when he scores 40+, 51-60 when he doesn't), because he got Shaq off the team, negating any chance they had of a title.

      5) Ernie Kent got a 5-year extension from Oregon, which has a one-way buyout of $1M if Ducks fire him. Kent's teams are lot of fun to watch, and they win in a tough league. Good for him

      4) Bobby Lutz is considering a move from Charlotte to South Alabama, which indicates he isn't happy with 49ers' move to the far-flung Atlantic 14, where programs go to disappear. It would be kick in teeth to Charlotte to lose Lutx to USA.

      3) I almost forgot that the most unique D-I hoop job is open, the Hawai'i job. Who wouldn't want to coach in paradise? It isn't an easy job though, WAC isn't the best league, ton of travel. Riley Walklace had done a nice job out there. We'll see how they do finding his replacement.

      2) I feel safer knowing Don Imus is off the radio (not really).
I just hope that EVERYONE is now held to the same standard that he is being held to, and I do mean everyone, not just old foul-mouthed, caucasian males.

      1) Just for the record, Rutgers upset LSU in national semis of the women's tournament; LSU's coach quit her $400,000/year job after the school found out about a lesbian affair with one of her former players. Imagine what Imus and the boys could have done with that; he might have gotten himself fired twice.

Detroit Pistons at Toronto Raptors (7 PM ET)
Toronto already has won the Atlantic Division title and must finish ahead of Southeast Division champion Miami to gain home-court advantage in the first round. The Raptors could wrap it up Friday if they beat the Pistons and the Heat lose to Indiana. EDGE: RAPTORS
Top overall draft pick Andrea Bargnani may be back in action for Toronto for the first time since undergoing an appendectomy on March 21st. The Raptors have won nine of 11 games since he went down. EDGE: RAPTORS
Detroit and Toronto have two meetings left this season, as the Pistons have picked up a victory in six of the last seven matchups. The Raptors may get a break with the Pistons resting key players since they've clinched the top record in the East. SLIGHT EDGE: PISTONS
The OVER is 6-1 in the last seven meetings.

Indiana Pacers at Miami Heat (8 PM ET)
