  • Texas A&M Basketball back to the Dark Ages

Days after the extension offered to Billy Gillispie, the truth is that Kentucky has offered greener grass, and A&M is in search of someone to keep the resurgence alive.

Gillispie, unable to fend off the offers from Wildcat land, leaves yet another school ( see Tulsa) wishing they had enough to keep him in the fold.

The sad news is that A&M had transformed itself from football/baseball only status to becoming a hoops power, if only for a little while. While it is understandable that the UK job is nearly the pinnacle in college hoops, it is a little disappointing that the challenge at A&M held so little as fodder for recognition in establishing a changing of the guard, so to speak.

As encouraging as the news that Billy Donovan stuck with his repeat champs, equally discouraging is this development.

Who knows what happens from here on, but there must be some long faces in College Station, TX.

    The troubling questions:

    1) Why did Tubby Smith go to Minnesota?
    2) What is the point of agreeing to an extension?
    3) What has happened to past Tulsa coaches--Nolan Richardson, Tubby Smith, Bill Self, Mike Anderson, Buzz Peterson, Gillispie, etc?
    4) Where does A&M go now?

Disturbed by all of this- will leave it to the forum to discuss
You can't always get what you want, but if you try some time, you might find, you get what you need.

Sorry bro, thats life in a non basketball school. A&M had zero chance of keeping him when Kentucky came calling.

I know, cause Louisville has lost 2 of their football coaches to greener pastuers. Trust that your AD will find a good candidate to replace him

Louisville got a Tulsa coach too, and I think you'll be happy with that, until he leaves too.

      Kragthorpe is the real deal.
