Bad day yesterday, felt like I deserved a little better, but that should even out in the long run. First of all, let me say I'm heavy on AS Roma today, and I believe they will beat Man U quite easily, but we'll see about that in about an hour and a half. On to bases.
Sides (3-5, -1.49*)
Phillies -128 (CH/TH)
I'm not a big fan of betting against my team, but we're up against it here. Cole Hamels is one of the better young lefties in the game, and the Braves struggled in this situation throughout most of last year. Hudson actually should have a pretty good year, but I don't think it will get off to a good start, as the Phillies handle righties at home.
Giants -110 (MC/CY)
Since we're betting against Chris Young and not Cy Young, I'll gladly lay the small number here. The Giants offense was terrible yesterday, but they get a little relief here as Young isn't of the same class as Peavy. He had a great year last year, but I don't think it carries over in his second year in the NL. Meanwhile, Matt Cain is an emerging star, and should have been the Opening Day starter for the Giants. He should have plenty of success against a Padres team that he dominated last season.
Rangers +135 (BM/ES)
For me, this game is only slightly worse than 50/50 for the Rangers, and at this price, I'm riding along. McCarthy is a good unknown pitcher, and he never gets hit exceptionally hard. The Rangers should give him enough support to make this one a nice value play.
Royals +146 (OP/JB)
Beckett is way too inconsistent to be laying this number on the road. I personally don't think the Royals Opening Day win was a fluke, as they have a good lineup and will win half their games or more at home. Perez isn't anything worth going crazy about, but he is a decent lefty, and lefties gave Boston problems last year, especially away from Fenway.
Totals (0-2, -2.20*)
Lean to Cardinals over and Giants under, but passing.
All lines posted from BetJamaica for record purposes, though I sometimes play games at other outlets. Best of luck everyone!
