  • Tigers' Rogers lands on DL

DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers pitcher Kenny Rogers will miss at least one regular-season start after being placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a tired arm.

General manager Dave Dombrowski said Rogers was seeing a specialist and would not speculate on how long he will be out, but did say the left-hander will miss at least one start. The designation is retroactive to March 25.

Right-hander Chad Durbin will take Rogers' spot in the rotation, and lefty Bobby Seay will take his roster spot.

A fierce competitiveness, cerebral approach and tireless work ethic have helped Rogers remain effective for a long time. He has gone from a hard-throwing pitcher to a crafty one during a career that began in 1989 with the Texas Rangers and included stops with Oakland, Minnesota and both teams in New York.

Rogers, 42, finished 17-8 with a 3.84 ERA in 34 outings during his first season with the Tigers in 2006. He won all three of his starts during the playoffs and did not allow a run in 23 innings.

After what turned out to be his final outing of the spring on Saturday, Rogers said he was not where he wanted to be, despite throwing six scoreless innings in Detroit's 3-1 win over Atlanta.

"I feel very erratic with my control," said Rogers, who gave up four hits and walked two. "I'm not going to dwell on it, but my control has to be better when it counts."

LMAO ..... He has room to lose a few pitchers to the DL, that's for sure

ESPN just reported the gambler could be out at least 3 months. That sucks for my Tigers but we are deep with pitching.

Yep. The Gambler had surgery to remove a blood clot and repair some stuff in the shoulder.
That will be pretty tough to come back from.
                      Winna, Winna, Chicken Dinna!!!
