  • Saturday NCAA Football, NFLX and MLB.....

A tough loss with the Falcons yesterday to go 0-1 (-5.5 units). Lets make some money today with these plays..........

    NCAA FOOTBALL

3 STAR: KANSAS STATE (-27.5) OVER California

Cal only returns seven starters form last years 7-5 team, and only 2 starters are on the defense.. K-State should be in the BCS, if not the National title hunt all season long. The Wildcats return 13 starters from last season team and have a potential Heisman Trophy candidate in QB Ell Roberson. Even though they are not playing this game in the Little Apple, this is a home game for K-State in Kansas City. The Wildcats usually look to run it up and impress voters and I look for them to do that here. K-State is 16-5 against the spread as a home favorite of 21.5 or more points since 1992 and they are 14-3 against the spread in non-conference home games since 1992, while California is only 2-10 against the spread as a road underdog since 1992. BLOWOUT!

    NFLX

5 STAR: NY GIANTS (+2.5) OVER NY Jets

When I saw this opening line of Jets -1, I tagged this game as the trap of the pre-season. The Jets have looked good in the pre-season, while the Giants have had their struggles and this is a pre-season series that has been totally dominated by the Jets. The Jets have won 9 out of the last 11 meetings in the pre-season and they have covered the spread in 11 straight! Yet this line opened with the Jets laying only 1 point. Looks way to easy to take the Jets in this spot, and Joe Public is, as they havepushed the line up to 2.5 now. Go the other way, the Giants are the play here!

    2003 NFL PRE-SEASON RECORD

    5 STAR RECORD 3-2 (+4.0 UNITS)
    3 STAR RECORD 0-2 (-6.6 UNITS)
    2 STAR RECORD 3-3 (-0.6 UNITS)
    1 STAR RECORD 1-0 (+1.0 UNITS)

    OVERALL RECORD 7-7 (-2.2 UNITS)
    A $100 player would be down $220.00

    MLB

3 STAR: SAN DIEGO (+$120) OVER Montreal

    (Adam Eaton vs. Javier Vazquez)

Javier Vazquez was fantastic in his last start, throwing a complete game shutout against the Giants, but don't expect the same results in this game. Vazquez is very inconsistent and is in a bad spot for a very poor performance in this game. Vazquez has been terrible as a road favorite, going 3-14 as a road favorite of -110 or higher over the last 3 seasons. Playing the weak hitting Padres is not a plus either, Vazquez is 4-13 in road games vs. teams averaging 2.75 or less extra base hits per game since 1997 and 1-7 in road games vs. teams that are outscored by 0.5 or more runs per game on the season over the last 3 seasons. In 9 career starts by Vazquez against San Diego, the Expos are 2-7. Play the Padres in this spot!

    2003 MLB RECORD

    5 STAR RECORD 75-39 (+94.23 UNITS)
    3 STAR RECORD 115-99 (+73.60 UNITS)
    2 STAR RECORD 54-72 (-36.52 UNITS)
    1 STAR RECORD 34-33 (+1.15 UNITS)

    OVERALL RECORD 278-243 (+132.36 UNITS)
    A $100 player would be up $13,236.00

A solid day, going 2-1 overall (+5.6 units). Lost the college game with K State, I got what I expected with the offense, but the defense has some real questions in the secondary. The Giants cashed in the 5 STAR winner with the trap of the pre-season line, and baseball remained RED hot, cashing in the 1-0 win with the Padres to make it 8 straight winners in baseball and 14 out of the last 16! Hope everyone made some bucks today, back in the morning with Sunday's plays.

            CONGRATS JOHN!

Good call on the 15-14 game.....Jets are really hurting now with Pennnigton breaking his left hand leaving it up to "old man Testicle Vinny" to get them through!

Agreed with K-State and was somewhat surprised at the lack of Defense....Snyder is pissed big time about that!!

Some odd things going on in BBALL as it nears the playoffs.....there is a home plate ump that will no doubt be answering questions on the obvious strike out of the Padres that was called a ball for the SD win with the bases loaded........I would NOT want to be him tomorrow!!

I thought the high chalk plays in baseball would be gold for at least another week (aka NYY & ASTRO) but it is time to put them away sans a rare par perhaps as they playoff teams are already pulling the plug on starters and the rest factor.

THANKS FOR ALL THE PICKS AND KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB!! (because mine sure blew monster chow the last 2 days)!!Goldv

              GoldV,

I agree, things are really starting to get strange in MLB. This is usually about the time I pull the plug to concentrate on football.
I'm going to see what happens the next couple of weeks.

              Good luck
