    Six-Pack for Monday

We're looking at major league teams all month, before the season starts. Tonight, its the Oakland A's.

-- A's are 21-7 in Harden's starts last two years, but they'll need 30+ starts from him this season, not 14.

-- Only four teams in baseball history grounded into double plays more than Oakland did last year (170).

-- A's have 103 interleague wins, tied with Bronx for most in the big leagues.

-- Jason Kendall has hit one homer in 1,153 ABs since he joined the A's.

-- Mark Kotsay has 105 outfield assists since '98, more than any outfielder in big leagues.

-- Over last eight seasons, A's have 11 more second half wins than any other team in major leagues.

Monday's List of 13: Random facts for a Monday......

      13) New York Times is reporting that Joe Theismann has been dropped from Monday Night Football telecasts. No official word yet, but Emmitt Smith or Bill Parcells could replace him. Hopefully, they'll fire Tony Kornheiser, too.

      12) This will be an interesting week for the coaching carousel, as Billy Donovan gets asked 1,000 times about Kentucky job.

      11) Rumors are stirring that Ron Artest will retire at end of the season; this is why Knicks passed on him in draft, they knew he was an odd duck, but they should have drafted and traded him, to at least get something for that first round pick.

      10) Eldrick Woods has won World Golf-American Express six times now; only player to win the same tournament more than that is Sam Snead's eight wins at Greensboro.

      9) One of the odd parts of watching Fast Break for 50th time or so is seeing Jim Harrick as an assistant coach for Nevada State; Harrick was the head coach at Pepperdine back then.

      8) I wonder if there are any NFL front offices that do a lot less preparation for the draft than the other teams. It is possible to paralyze your brain (paralysis by analysis) by thinking about things too much. Just curious.........less could be more.

      7) When George Allen coached Redskins, he was so fanatical about details that he actually labeled the type of trees around the practice fields at Redskins Park.

      6) The first woman to cover an NFL game in press box had to sue for the right to do it, and it didn't happen until the 70's. Now, any hot-looking lady is eligible to be a sideline reporter.

      5) That said, male reporters are not allowed in locker rooms at WNBA games. Will a guy sue for the right?

      4) Reports out of Arizona say the Colorado Rockies are best team in the Cactus League. We'll see how the humidor works for the Rockie pitching staff this season.

      3) Billy Packer can blather about all he wants, but the Green kid travelled Friday night. It doesn't matter now, but he did.

      2) Florida-UCLA rematch in semifinals Saturday is exact same scenario as when UNLV beat Duke in '90, then was favored to beat Blue Devils in semifinals the next season. They didn't.

      1) Early spreads for Final Four games Saturday:

      Florida -3.5 over UCLA
      Georgetown -1 over Ohio State

            ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Toronto Raptors at Boston Celtics (7 PM ET)
The Raptors are 9-3 against divisional foes this year and will be going for their first-ever sweep of the Celtics. BIG EDGE: RAPTORS
Insiders believe Toronto's main strength is depth, proven by nine players scoring at least seven points in Friday's rout of Denver. EDGE: RAPTORS
Boston has the worst record in the Eastern Conference, dropping three straight. Experts are wondering if the Celtics will continue to "tank" the rest of the season in order to ensure the second-most chances in the NBA draft lottery. EDGE: WIZARDS

Denver Nuggets at Detroit Pistons (7:30 PM ET)
The Pistons expect to have both leading scorer Richard Hamilton and leading rebounder Rasheed Wallace back for this game. Hamilton missed Sunday's win due to illness while Wallace served a one-game suspension. EDGE: PISTONS
Detroit has won the last 10 home meetings with Denver and 10 of the last 12 meetings overall. BIG EDGE: PISTONS

Atlanta Hawks at Miami Heat (7:30 PM ET)
The Heat have dropped three of their last four games, failing to gain ground on Washington for the lead in the Southeast Division. However, the one win over that stretch was against the lowly Hawks. EDGE: HEAT
The Hawks are riding a season-high seven-game road losing streak and are just 12-23 away from home this season. EDGE: HEAT

Orlando Magic at New York Knicks (7:30 PM ET)
The Knicks have dropped three straight and will be trying to avoid their longest losing streak of the season and stay in contention for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with a win against the Magic, who are also battling for the final spot. EDGE: KNICKS
The Magic are 1 1/2 games ahead of New York in the standings and need to keep winning key matchups like this against the Knicks, who have won the first two meetings in the season series. EDGE: MAGIC
New York is averaging just 77 points during its three-game skid, 21.2 points below the team's season average. The Knicks have also dropped four of five at home after winning seven straight there. EDGE: MAGIC

Portland Trail Blazers at Chicago Bulls (8:30 PM ET)
The Bulls are just 1 1/2 games behind Cleveland for second place in the Central Division, which means a difference between second and fifth in the playoff seedings. Insiders believe that's all the motivation Chicago needs right now. EDGE: BULLS
Chicago is just 11-17 against Western Conference opponents this season. EDGE: TRAIL BLAZERS
The Trail Blazers are 2-1 on their four-game road trip and welcomed back leading scorer Zach Randolph on Sunday in a 1-point loss at Minnesota. Randolph came back from bereavement leave and totaled 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists off the bench. EDGE: TRAIL BLAZERS

Washington Wizards at Utah Jazz (7:30 PM ET)
The Jazz just clinched their first playoff berth since the 2002-03 season and may suffer a letdown here against a hungry Washington team still trying to stay ahead of Miami for the lead in the Southeast Division. SLIGHT EDGE: WIZARDS
The Wizards are just 1-3 on their five-game road trip and have dropped eight of 10 away from home en route to a 12-22 road record. EDGE: JAZZ

Memphis Grizzlies at Phoenix Suns (10 PM ET)
The Suns have dropped three of five and will be looking to avoid consecutive losses for the second time this month. They will be facing a Memphis team that has lost eight of 11 in Phoenix. EDGE: SUNS
The Grizzlies used five players with less than two full years of experience in a 118-108 loss at Utah on Saturday. They are a league-worst 5-29 on the road. BIG EDGE: SUNS

The Blazers have done a good job of keeping the games close as road underdogs lately as they've been within the spread in each of the last four road games, including yesterday's 94-93 loss at Minnesota on a last-minute shot by Kevin Garnett. Even playing back-to-back games has not been a problem as the Blazers pulled off road upsets over New York and Atlanta on March 22-23. While Chicago is a step up in talent, the Bulls have struggled to cover the lines as they are zero for their last six against the spread, including their last three home contests against Boston, the Clippers and Denver. Portland looks poised to take advantage of of tonight's spread (+9) according to Dunkel, which has Chicago favored by only 4 1/2. Dunkel Pick: Portland (+9). Here are all of today's games.

                      Anaheim at Detroit
After taking a home-and-home series against Nashville to take over the top spot in the West, the Red Wings proceeded to lose four straight, including the last two at home in shootouts to lower-rated Columbus and St. Louis. Anaheim has had recent troubles of its own, including back-to-back defeats to lower-rated L.A. and Phoenix, but snapped back with a 3-2 win in overtime against Dallas on Friday. With Detroit struggling to get wins right now, Anaheim looks like a decent underdog pick according to Dunkel, which has the Ducks favored straight up by 1/2 a goal. Dunkel Pick: Anaheim (+1 1/2). Here are all of today's games.
