Wayne, I am in a league, been going on over 12 years now. No protects, 14 team, 5X5 (but SB-CS, W-L and S-BS). 1B/2B/SS/3B/C/DH/4 OF and 8 pitchers any mix. I am sitting with the 4th pick in the draft. Do you think Ortiz is worth a pick that high? In knowing the guys I think the first three go Pujols, Santana, Reyes. Because of the SB-CS category Soriano is not as valuable.Originally posted by wayne1218Are the other 2 Manny and Ortiz?2012 - 2013 NCAAF

Yeah, that is my first thought (as a Yankee fan) and the numbers support it, just wanted your thoughts. At first I thought about stretching and taking Utley or Crawford, because second base is so week versus his numbers and crawford SB (in our league they go fast). ThanksOriginally posted by wayne1218Bill, It would be real tough for me to pass A-Rod up if he is there at the 4th pick!2012 - 2013 NCAAF

AS a Yankee fan I hope and pray your right.. Regular season he is lights out.. Get him in the playoffs where it counts the most.. Well you know how that goes..Originally posted by wayne1218Bill, Alex has shed some pounds and i expect a monster year from him. He shouldn't go any lower than 2nd in any league (IMO) behind Pujols. Santana is great but give me the everyday guy like A-Rod & Pujols over him 8 days a week!

Ok, fair enough. So let's say it goes Pujols, Arod, Reyes, I personally had Santana last year and he is great, but feel I do not want to spend early picks on pitching this year. That being said with those players gone and Santana out of the mix, what hitter would you take there?Originally posted by wayne1218Bill, Alex has shed some pounds and i expect a monster year from him. Bill, I really struggle taking Pitchers that early. I've had them before and they are great but you cross your fingers every 5th day that he gets huge points then you wait 4 days again. Solid pitchers are everywhere with 5 starters on each team. It is VERY important to me that i put an All Star lineup in the field everyday. It's a long ass season and i've always done better with great everyday hitting and simply solid pitching. We play a points only league, not roto and not head to head. Everyday points to us are huge and when your pitchers are not going, you need points that day.Originally posted by BillMill71Ok, fair enough. If those were the 1st 3 picked, i would still take Ortiz, Soriano and Howard before Santana.
