  • BigJim's Empty Thimble NASCAR Picks

2 weeks ago I told Wayne you could fit my NASCAR knowledge into a thimble, with ample room to spare... and then went out and successfully picked Matt Kenseth as the winner.

I'm going to take a flyer with Matt Kenseth for the following reasons:

    1. Great Performance in the Robot Nextel Commercial. "I won?" Classic.
    2. His HotWheels car is on my desk as it was the toy in a Happy Meal my GF got approx 2 years ago.
    3. I love the Smirnoff malt beverages. The Twisted V Black Cherry in particular.
    4. Its not Roush racing... its Roush/FENWAY racing.
    5. Busch Series winners are undefeated this season on the same track the next day... I think.
    6. My book has him at +1500 as opposed to +1000. That's value baby.
Well here I am back again to pass on the most absurd UNDEFEATED NASCAR handicapping on the internet.

I was going to blindly take the Busch series winner yesterday but did a little (VERY LITTLE) research and here's what I found.

    1. Jeff Burton is great in the Holiday Inn commercial where the dorky office guys are trying to light him on fire. Thankfully, those suits really are flame retardant.
    2. Busch Series winners are undefeated this season on the same track the next day... I'm almost positive this is still the case.
    3. My book has Burton at +1000 instead of +900, so there's at least some value.
    4. I saw the highlights of the Busch race yesterday and Burton barely nosed out Kyle Busch who wrecked and flipped his car over in an effort to win. I love that kind of determination... even if he looks like Eddie Munster.
    5. My book has Kyle Busch at +1100 instead of +1000, so there's at least some value there as well.

So I'm going to back both Jeff Burton and Kyle Busch today.

    Jeff Burton +1000
    Kyle Busch +1100

Obviously, there's no way I can remain undefeated... but hopefully I can pull another needle out of a 43 car haystack.

These races start with 43 cars, right?

looks like good pics big jim Im with you on Burton. If you're looking for a prop bet I like the under 9.5 cautions I know there is a lot complaining of hard tires on the new surface but I think the drivers will keep that in the back of their heads and drive a conservative race

They're not stolen... they're borrowed (sort of).
