    Six-Pack for Sunday

I'll be looking at all thirty big league teams this spring; we look at the Colorado Rockies today...........

-- Todd Helton's .476 slugging percentage last year was the lowest of his career.

-- Jeff Baker knocked in 21 runs in 17 September games.

-- Colorado's 4.66 ERA last year was lowest in their history.

-- Jeff Francis has 18-8 career record at Coors, 12-17 on road.

-- Brad Hawpe hit 22 homers, 16 away from Coors Field.

-- Rockies had 119 sacrifice bunts last year, most of any team in major leagues since the '79 Twins had 142.

Sunday's List of 13: Final thoughts on our way to pay visit to Bracketville....................

      13) Funniest site of the whole season is Danny Ainge visiting with the Durant family in the stands at the Big 12 tournament, as in, "Yes, your son is going to save my job someday; we'll pay him whatever he wants."

      12) When Durant teed up a trey with game tied at 61-all, was there any doubt he was draining it? He has a lot of Larry Bird in him, for sure. And he's still a kid; he's going to get heavier, stronger and a lot better, which is scary.

      11) Raise your hand if you thought Oregon would lead USC by almost 40 in second half. I didn't think so.

      10) Why exactly is Memphis still in Conference USA? There are no leagues that the Tigers' presence wouldn't help?

      9) Supposedly, there is a $900,000 check waiting in Arkansas for Stan Heath, should Razorbacks miss NCAAs; problem is, they are one win from an SEC title-- if Hogs make NCAAs, the check goes uncashed, and Heath stays. Coaching is crazy; a lot of money, a lot of stress. .

      8) Auburn in '85, Arkansas in '00 are only teams to win title in SEC when they had to win four games; South Carolina lost in finals trying to do it last season.

      7) There's a new sheriff on Tobacco Road, and he wears a red sportscoat; simply put, Sidney Lowe is the man. All bubble teams are rooting hard for NC State to lose on Sunday.

      6) Famous alumni of Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo include John Madden and Weird Al Yankovic.

      5) It is funny that a whole bunch of Mormons went to Vegas to watch their team play in conference tournament; are there two things that go together less than Mormons and Vegas? BYU is very good, by the way.

      4) For some unknown reason, Mountain West hid their title game on the Versus Channel, which I found by accident; this move hasn't worked for the NHL, why would the Mountain West do it? It makes no sense.

      3) Kyle Shiloh of Nevada tore a hamstring slipping on a logo on the court, a really bad injury. How stupid to risk health of the kids to put corporate logos on the court.

      2) Florida A&M won MEAC title on perfect alley-oop pass at 0:01.4 left in game, on side out of bounds play. Perfect call by coach Mike Gillespie, and perfect execution.

      1) According to kenpom.com my second favorite website, the play-in game figures to be Florida A&M (RPI 184) and either Central Connecticut or Northwestern State, which is favored to lose to A&M-Corpus Christi in their title game Sunday. If Demons lose, looks like Central Connecticut in play-in game.

        ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ACC Championship - N.C. State vs. #8 North Carolina (ESPN | 1 PM ET)
North Carolina star Tyler Hans-brough is still adjusting to wearing a protective mask in action, as he's been held to single digits in both of the Tar Heels' tournament games. EDGE: NC STATE
The Wolfpack haven't won an ACC tournament title since 1987. EDGE: UNC
The Tarheels defense held Boston College to just 34.5 percent shooting in the ACC semifinal, after limiting Florida State to 30.9 percent in the quarterfinals. EDGE: UNC & UNDER
Automatic bid to NCAA Tournament on the line.

SEC Championship - Arkansas vs. #6 Florida (CBS | 1 PM ET)
Despite losing two straight and three of its last four regular-season games, Florida has outscored its opponents by nearly 19 points per game and will play in its fourth straight SEC title game. BIG EDGE: FLORIDA
Florida has won the last two SEC championships and has a chance to be the first team since Kentucky in 1997-99 to win three straight conference titles. EDGE: FLORIDA
Arkansas and Florida have split their two SEC tournament matchups. The Gators beat the Razorbacks 74-71 in last season's quarterfinals, while Arkansas won 75-74 in the 1999 quarterfinals. Arkansas may have played its way into the NCAA tournament field with a 81-72 win over Mississippi State in Saturday's semifinal matchup, but would gain an automatic bid with a victory on Sunday. EDGE: ARKANSAS
Automatic bid to NCAA Tournament on the line.

        Big 12 Championship - #15 Texas vs. #2 Kansas (ESPN | 3 PM ET)
Kansas is 4-1 all-time - the most victories of any school - in the championship game of the Big 12 tournament. In last season's title game, the Jayhawks defeated the Longhorns 80-68. EDGE: KANSAS
The Jayhawks are a perfect 5-0 this season in games played at neutral sites. EDGE: KANSAS
Texas star Kevin Durant is averaging 29.8 points over his last five games and his performance Saturday made him just the second player in Big 12 history to score at least 800 total points in a season. EDGE: TEXAS
Kansas leads the all-time series with Texas 13-5 and has won three of the last four meetings between the schools. This is the third appearance in four years for the Longhorns in the Big 12 championship game. Texas is 0-3 all-time in the conference finals play. EDGE: KANSAS
Automatic bid to NCAA Tournament on the line.

          ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seattle SuperSonics at Toronto Raptors (1 PM ET)
Seattle has won nine of the last 11 meetings between these teams, including a 110-97 victory on December 23rd. BIG EDGE: SONICS
The SuperSonics have lost 17 of their last 20 road games while the Raptors ahve won 10 of 12 at home. BIG EDGE: RAPTORS
Toronto is 9-2-1 ATS in its last 12 games playing on three or more days of rest.
The UNDER is 9-2 in the SuperSonics last 11 games overall.

Detroit Pistons at Los Angeles Clippers (3 PM ET)
Detroit has won six of its last seven away from home and has been even better against Los Angeles, winning eight straight and 17 of 21 over the Clippers. The Pistons have won three in a row in Los Angeles and seven of the last 10 meetings there. BIG EDGE: PISTONS
All five starters scored in double figures for Detroit in its 92-74 win over the Clippers at home on Feb. 12. Los Angeles shot 32.4 percent from the field, its second-worst performance this season. EDGE: PISTONS
The UNDER is 13-3 in the Clippers last 16 games overall.

Denver Nuggets at Sacramento Kings (3:30 PM ET)
Sacramento forward Ron Artest has been reinstated to the team, after being arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. In Artest's absence, the Kings have split the first two games of its three-game homestand. EDGE: KINGS
The Kings begin a five-game road trip on Tuesday against Cleveland. They are 18-13 at Arco Arena but only 10-20 on the road, making Sunday's game an important one. EDGE: KINGS
Sacramento has won five in a row and 17 of 21 in the series. Those numbers don't bode well for Denver, which is lacking confidence after going 1-3 this month and losing seven of 10 overall. BIG EDGE: KINGS
Denver has lost seven of its past 10 road games, Sacramento has won eight of 10 at home. BIG EDGE: KINGS
The UNDER is 10-1 in the last 11 meetings.

Orlando Magic at Houston Rockets (6:30 PM ET)
Orlando has failed to score 100 points in nine of its last 10 games, going 2-8 in that span and has lost 20 of 27. EDGE: UNDER
A big reason Orlando has plummeted down the standing is its struggles on the road. The team has lost 17 of 20 away from home, including nine of its last 10. BIG EDGE: ROCKETS
Houston has won eight of nine against the Magic heading into Sunday's series finale. BIG EDGE: ROCKETS
The Magic are 1-8 ATS in the last nine meetings.

Dallas Mavericks at Los Angeles Lakers (ESPN | 9 PM ET)
Dallas has won 36 of its last 38 games, but one of the losses was a 101-98 defeat to the Lakers back on January 7th that snapped a 13-game winning streak. The Mavericks will certainly be motivated with thoughts of revenge on national television. BIG EDGE: MAVS
Mavericks stars Josh Howard and Dirk Nowitzki have combined to average 52.3 points in three games against Los Angeles - eight more than their combined average this season. EDGE: MAVS
The Lakers are a far different team than the one that beat Dallas back in January. They have lost five straight and 11 of 14 after a 108-92 defeat at Philadelphia on Friday in the finale of a winless four-game road trip. EDGE: MAVS
The Mavericks are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Los Angeles.

                          Wisconsin vs. Ohio State
The Badgers have shown that they can win without Brian Butch. Since their center went down with a wrist injury, Wisconsin has beaten Michigan State twice and dominated Illinois (53-41) on the defensive end yesterday in the Big Ten semis. As expected, Big Ten player of the year Alando Tucker (21 points vs. Illinois) has stepped up to keep the Badgers in contention for a No. 1 seed in the NCAAs. These two teams split the season series with Wisconsin winning in Madison (72-69) and then losing by only a point in Columbus (49-48) on Feb. 25. That game was decided only after Mike Conley's runner with four seconds left. The Badgers certainly have enough to hang around in this one and look like a good underdog pick (+1 1/2) according to Dunkel, which has the Badgers favored straight up by 1. Dunkel Pick: Wisconsin (+1 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

                            Detroit at LA Clippers
The Clippers have been slumping lately, but have still won four of their last five at home, including wins over Eastern Conference foes Indiana (87-64) and Charlotte (100-93). Of course Detroit is a major step up in competition, but the Clippers will get the advantage of not having to face Rasheed Wallace, who has been suspended for the game after picking up his 16th technical foul of the season. And the Pistons haven't exactly been tearing it up in March as they come in with a 2-3 record, including back-to-back home losses to Golden State and Cleveland. Los Angeles looks like a decent home underdog pick (+3 1/2) in this one according to Dunkel, which has the Clippers favored straight up by 3. Dunkel Pick: LA Clippers (+3 1/2). The Avs are also getting strong play from rookie Paul Statsny, who has eight goals and 17 assists during a 17-game scoring streak. Colorado will face a tough opponent in the Wild, who are 6-1-2 over its last nine games, but look like a decent road underdog pick according to Dunkel, which has the Avalanche favored straight up by 1/2 a goal.
