                Six-Pack for Sunday

I'll be going over all 30 major league teams, giving stats on each of them, as we heads towards the 2007 season......... today, we look at the Washington Nationals

-- Nationals used 10 centerfielders last year; they're hoping Nook Logan can fill that spot this season.

-- Washington has 36 pitchers in camp, with Cordero as the closer and Patterson the ace only two guys with a spot.

-- Ray King, who pitches for different team every year, has .216 career BA against him, vs left-handed hitters.

-- If you consider all the players who played for Expos/Nats with 1,000 plate appearances, only Nick Johnson (.407) and Rusty Staub (.402) have the best on-base percentages.

-- Good TV crew for Nationals' TV broadcasts; Don Sutton joins Bob Carpenter in the booth.

-- Nationals move into their new stadium next season.

Sunday's List of 13: Wrapping up a college hoop Saturday

                  13) Wisconsin looks shaky without its third-leading scorer Butch; they were lucky to beat flu-stricken Michigan State in their home finale Saturday.

                  12) Butler survived Loyola team to get to Horizon final; one of Butler stars, Graves, was 0-9 from field, 12-12 from the line.

                  11) Loyola has a player named Andy Polka, who last year was Mr Basketball in Wisconsin; how does this kid not play for Krzyzewski?

                  10) Washington Huskies are going to be scary opponent for the 3 seed in Pac-10 tourney Thursday.

                  9) Belmont hit 12 treys in first half, to break open title game in Atlantic Sun tournament; they led by 19 at half, won by 27, as they go to Big Dance for second year in a row.

                  8) Stanford was down 19 at half, forced OT, lost to Arizona. I think the Pac-10 is getting six teams, but Cardinal could use a win or two at Staples next weekend.

                  7) Georgetown is #1 seed in Big East tourney for first time in 18 years, which is last time they won the event (1989).

                  6) Dayton beat Saint Louis 65-64 in double OT, in what had to be a tense game; Flyers had four turnovers entire contest.

                  5) Five ACC teams are tied for first with five losses; very odd season in that league. Carolina was 4-4 on road in ACC.

                  4) Virginia blew golden chance to win league by losing road games at Miami, Wake Forest.

                  3) Spare me the talk of Missouri State being an NCAA team; they lost at home to Winthrop in Bracket Buster and it wasn't that close. Bears are an NIT team.

                  2) Tensions ran high Saturday; Tony Bennett, Tim Floyd had brief shouting match on sideline, and Reggie Theus ignited a Nevada-New Mexico State rivalry during week, which makes the WAC tourney interesting, since it is in Las Cruces.

                  1) ESPN analyst Tom Brennan, former Vermont coach, is the best; he had this comment about Senior Days Saturday:

"I cry at every Senior Day. I cried at Texas-El Paso's Senior Day, and I don't even know any of their players."
