    Six-Pack for Monday

-- There is two feet of snow on my lawn, but baseball gets underway with exhibition games Wednesday, thank God.

-- It is billed as the biggest race of the year, but the last two Nextel Cup champs didn't finish the Daytona 500 that year.

-- Time for CBS to stop putting St John's on national TV; they're awful.

-- Maryland punched their ticket into Field of 65 with home win vs North Carolina; DJ Strawberry had 27 for the Terps.

-- Kentucky shot 58% from floor, but blew 32-23 lead at half in 67-65 loss at Vanderbilt, their fourth loss in row against the Commodores, who are an interesting team.

-- The only other time Vanderbilt ever beat Kentucky four times in row was back in '73-'74.

Monday's List of 13: Random thoughts as February ends....

      13) One of biggest topics when picking field of 65 for NCAAs is going to be how, in some conferences, teams didn't play a balanced schedule, especially in bigger conferences.

      12) The winning percentage of Michigan State's Big 11 foes is 10% higher than Purdue's, so how can you equate the record of both teams, even though they're in same league?

      11) Darrell Waltrip didn't say it, but he inferred the big crash with seven laps to go in the NASCAR race would have been a fatal one, without the new safety devices in cars.

      10) The year Arizona won national title in hoop, they were 3-4 in last seven regular season games; when they desgined the championship rings, Lute Olson made sure the team's record was left off (they had nine losses).

      9) When was last time Dartmouth swept season series from Princeton in basketball?

      8) Gonzaga's Derek Raivio has made his last 53 foul shots.

      7) East Carolina finally got its first conference win, upsetting Texas-El Paso 79-78 as 9-point home underdog.

      On to the NFL Combine..........
6)Darius Walker is only the fifth football player to leave Notre Dame early, to enter NFL Draft.

      5) Vikings will cut Brad Johnson this week, to save against salary cap; this guy gets no respect.

      4) Brett Favre is having ankle surgery Monday, will be out 8 weeks or so; Packers are pushing some of their mini-camps back to accomodate Favre's recovery.

      3) Eagles signing AJ Feeley to $20M contract signals exit of Jeff Garcia from Philly; he is expected to sign with Broncos.

      2) Raiders are moving Robert Gallery back to right tackle, as they re-shuffle offensive line. They allowed 72 sacks in '06.

      1) Georgia Tech's Calvin Johnson wasn't supposed to work out, but he got the urge, borrowed a pair of sneakers from a QB, then ran a 4.35 40-yard dash, not bad for a 6-5, 235 lb WR
