For many Tampa Bay is the clear choice in this spot. The Rams looked completely out of sync with Oakland and the timing that once made them great , was not there. Given that Warner and Faulk are both injury prone , one has to wonder is Martz more concerned with player preservation than he is winning these pre-season games ?
The fact that St. Louis has lost 6 of thier last 7 in the preseason may attest to that fact ? On the otherhand you have Tampa Bay . It seems the intense & competitive Gruden takes the preseasonjust as serious as he does everything else. In fact his teams are now 16-7 SU in his 23 career preseason games. Tha includes a perfect 2-0 this season and a 5-1 since last season. In watching the Bucs play this year its very apparent they are out to make a loud statement that the road to the Super-Bowl goes thru Tampa.
So with all the aforementioned in mind , why do the odds makers have the Rams a favorite ? Could they possibly see more than we do on the surface ? When a line looks off theres usually a reason. Understand one thing ; the odds makers are very good at what they do , look at all the buildings on the Strip , and if you do not respect that you will not have a very enduring life as a sports bettor.
I feel strongly that reason is that Tampa pretty well has thier line-up set and positions are determined . The Rams desperately need a win , and have several players fighting for slots. All this data is supposed to translate into a supreme outing in front of a home crowd and a subsequent win in this spot.
In otherwords , should a team that is 0-4 ATS against the Bucs in thier past 4 meetings and 1-6 SU in thier last 7 preason games be favored in this match-up ? Time will tell , and thats the great part of sports betting.
So now I have told you why the line is where it is , its your job to decipher whether or not it all makes sense ???
