I agree about being a good match play player. Like I guess Els is terrible in match play and hje bowed out early

A young guy (Scottsdale resident) that has played this course often and the vibes around him seem to be VERY high right now.

I agree 100 %, but with match play you really dont always need to go low. All you need to do is go lower than your opponent on that day. There is some strategy involved. Eagle

Absolutely correct...Match play is a completely different mindset than medal(stroke) play...I played in high school and college and thrived in match play because i played conservative golf...if you are a player that plays low risk golf then match play is much better for you because you can simply wait for your opponent to make mistakes and often win holes with pars...players who play consistent low risk golf will always be the ones to win such events

P.S. Sergio irritates the hell out of me!!!

i was at the mercedes on maui a few years ago, and sergio is one shot back on the 18th hole. before his 2nd shot, this tool runs his ass into the bushes to take a piss!! and this was when he still re-griped his club about a hundred times before his shot. don't hate the guy, but he is really anoying

I did some digging and in 2002 Tiger did lose in the first round 2&1 to Peter O'Malley...Number 64 over Number 1

If u can get into the players head that u are playing against then u can win.Sergio when he took 30 minutes and 45 re grips he could really frustrate some of the players. Also Daly when he could drive the ball so much further than the others had a slight psychological advantage.

I think I am going to take Micheel and Howell III.

I heard today that Micheel won a big match play tourney recently. Makes me feel good also that a 16 seed is even money.

Howell III is hot and Sergio can't putt. If the pins tomorrow are anything like today, you got to be able to putt because they aren't going to be hitting many shots close.

Putting is really important at this course. The greens are impossible. Anyone know who leads in putting on the tour this year?
