    Six-Pack for Tuesday

-- NBA's trading deadline is this week; biggest rumor has Jason Kidd getting traded to the Lakers. We'll see.

-- The Daytona 500 was broadcast in 98 countries.

-- CBS affiliate here showed Army-Navy Saturday, instead of Arizona-UCLA or Florida-Vanderbilt, practically begging viewers to switch to another channel.

-- Patriots-Seattle are playing exhibition game next summer in China. Why, I don't know, but they are.

-- Chargers chose Norv Turner as their head coach. If I was a San Diego fan, this wouldn't excite me too much. This is his third head coaching job.

-- I might have taken a shot at someone who hasn't been a head coach, but was a coordinator instead. This has been successful recently (Smith-Mangini-Lewis).

Tuesday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but............

      13) The NFL has to change its rules regarding assistants and the hiring of new head coaches; they're asking for a scandal where an assistant helps throws a game, so he can get hired for a head coaching job.

      12) Ron Rivera helps the Bears get into the Super Bowl, and for his trouble, not only doesn't get a head coaching job, the Bears cut him loose as defensive coordinator. Nice.

      11) Lets think back to how Lovie Smith got the Bears' job; it was the only job he was being considered for that winter, and the Rams were favored at home in playoff game vs Carolina.

      10) In the overtime, the hideous/washed-up Jason Sehorn is on the field, trying to cover Steve Smith. Good luck, Carolina gets quick TD to Smith, Rams are done, Lovie Smith gets pay raise of roughly $1 million. Yeah, what a great system this is.

      9) Robert Allenby has 5-1 career record in first round of the Match Play tournament, which is good news. Bad news is, if he wins in first round this year, he opposes T. Woods next.

      8) Justin Leonard hasn't broke 70 in his last 17 rounds of golf.

      7) Kansas visits Kansas State every year; they haven't lost in the Little Apple since 1983.

      6) Pitt had solid road win, playing without injured star Gray, beating Seton Hall 71-68, Jamie Dixon's 100th career win.

      5) Wednesday is one of better days to be in Vegas, with the 32 Match Play first round matches during day, then full card of college hoop games, plus NBA, NHL at night. Good stuff.

      4) Ryan Malone of the Penguins became first NHL player to score a goal in first minute of all three periods, and Pens still lost the game on Long Island.

      3) The World Match Play Championships have players from 19 countries this week, with 23 Americans out of 64 guys

      2) By the way, I stand by my claim that golf tournaments that don't include Eldrick Woods are lot more interesting to watch since you have less of an idea who is going to win.

      1) I am guessing Bridget Moyanhan's acting career will get a boost, once Young Brady is born. I swear, these people get into these situations on purpose, just to keep their name in the headlines. That’s pretty sad.

Denver hoped the acquisition of Allen Iverson from Philadelphia on Dec. 19 would help take the pressure off Carmelo Anthony. The duo has only played six times together with the Nuggets winning just the first two contests. EDGE: SPURS
San Antonio finished its season-high eight-game road trip with a 4-4 record. "I would have rather gone 6-2 on the trip, but with the way we've been playing and that we started 2-4, going 4-4 is pretty good," said Spurs guard Manu Ginobili. EDGE: SPURS
