    Six-Pack for Thursday

-- Alabama 22, Florida 4. Stunning partial score Wednesday night: Top-ranked Gators rallied to win 76-67, but as March approaches, Florida needs better starts. This wasn't the first time they fell behind by big early margin.

-- Ole Miss beat LSU 71-70, as Andy Kennedy continues to do terrific job in his first year in Oxford. Rebels won't make NCAA's, but he's building a solid program at Ole Miss.

-- Washington State tied UCLA for Pac-10 lead by beating Washington 65-61 in terrific game Wednesday night. Tony Bennett is probably the national coach of the year.

-- Celtics snapped their 19-game losing streak, beating the Milwaukee Bucks, who have been awful without Michael Redd in the lineup; they are average with Redd.

-- Wilt Chamberlain, Bernard King, Moses Malone are the only three guys to score 50+ points for three NBA teams.

-- We pointed out yesterday how Warriors have lot of guys who didn't play college ball, which helps explain why they rarely make extra pass to open man. College ball prepares guys for the NBA, better than high school or club ball.

Thursday's List of 13: Snowy day's thoughts turn to golf

      13) The Viking Classic in Mississippi is held at Annandale CC thought to be the first golf course in that state with bentgrass greens. Because of Mississippi's climate, it was thought only bermudagrass courses could survive there, but no.......

      12) Luke Donald majored in Art Theory and Practice when he was a student at Northwestern.

      11) When Rod Pampling won at Bay Hill last year, he was just second international champion in 41-year history of Orlando-based tournament.

      10) Trevor Immelman's dad is commissioner of South Africa's Sunshine Golf Tour.

      9) At the Westchester Open, the 10th hole serves as the 1st hole, and the 1st hole the 10th, because the 9th is par-5 that is reachable in two shots, making for an exciting hole for players to finish on.

      8) The winner of the Wyndham Championship (the Greater Greensboro Open) receives the Sam Snead Trophy, mainly because Snead won this tournament a record eight times.

      7) Bubba Watson's wife Angie used to play in the WNBA.

      6) The PGA is at Southern Hills in Tulsa in August; winner at the last major held here was David Toms, in 2001.

      5) Not only has Will MacKenzie played on both the Hooters and Golden Bear Tours, he was also a professional kayaker.

      4) Only two drives per round get measured when computing long drive averages; last year in Akron, JB Holmes set mark for one tourney, when his eight drives averaged 350 yards, breaking old record (Scott Hend, 347.3 ypd, at '05 Colonial).

      3) Eldrick Woods has played in 17 tournaments in Ohio, and won eight of them (five Bridgestones, three Memorials).

      2) When Jim Fuyrk won Canadian Open last year, he made 11 of 24 putts that were between 10-20 feet in length. I have hard time making 11 of 24 playing miniature golf.

      1) Of the 38 golfers who have won the Heritage Classic at Hilton Head, 29 of them have also won a major championship.

                          Cleveland at LA Lakers
These two teams meet for the second time in five days. In the first matchup, Kobe got the best of LeBron in the points column (36-18), but the Cavaliers got the win (99-90). That's how it's been for the Lakers lately as they come in with a four-game losing streak, including a 107-106 setback to the Knicks at home on Tuesday in which L.A. was outscored 60-34 in the paint. Cleveland had its three-game winning streak snapped last night in Utah (99-98), but the notable thing was that somebody other than LeBron led the Cavs in scoring (Larry Hughes, 33 points). Anderson Varejao also had a big game (17 rebounds) filling in for Zydrunas Ilgauskas. The Cavs look like a good pick to take advantage of the Vegas line (+6 1/2) according to Dunkel, which has Cleveland favored straight up by 2 1/2. Dunkel Pick: Cleveland (+6 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

After losing six of eight, Arizona has won three straight to stop the slide. But the Wildcats weren't exactly dominant on their recent Oregon swing as they beat the lower-rated Beavers by only six (72-66) and needed to overcome a nine-point second half deficit to nip the Ducks (77-74). USC has proven it can play well in big games this year as the Trojans come in with a 5-3 record against ranked teams, including a 80-73 win over the Wildcats on Jan. 18. In their last outing the Trojans gave UCLA all it could handle on the road before losing 70-65. USC shot 53.8 percent from the field and led most of the game before the Bruins took over in the last five minutes. The Trojans look like a good underdog pick (+8) in this one according to Dunkel, which has Arizona favored by only 1 1/2. Dunkel Pick: USC (+8). Here are all of today's games.
