Loyola Marymount at San Francisco
Loyola Marymount was hit hard by a knee injury to Brandon Worthy that put their leading scorer out for the season. As a result the Lions went into a tailspin that saw them lose eight in a row from late December to late January. But the Lions have rebounded by winning four of their last five, including a road win at Santa Clara (74-71) and an upset of Gonzaga (67-61) at home. This past weekend Loyola was hit again when team-leader Matthew Knight left the game against San Diego with a concussion. He is expected to miss tonight's game as well. But replacement Derick Grubb filled in with 10 points and a career high 11 rebounds to lead Loyola to another road win. San Francisco did beat a falling Pepperdine (82-70) over the weekend, but prior to that the Dons had lost four of their last five at home with the only win coming by just three points over San Diego on the 6th. LA Clippers at Detroit
The Pistons keep rolling with Chris Webber in the lineup. Detroit has won its last six in a row while outscoring its opponents by an average of 12.3 points and outrebounding them by 6.5 boards. Overall the Pistons are now 10-2 with Webber in the starting lineup. The Clippers are wrapping up a season-high seven-game road trip that has seen them win only two of their first six games. L.A. looked bad yesterday in a 94-80 loss at Indiana in which the Clippers shot just 36.8 percent from the field (their fourth-worst effort of the season). Detroit at Philadelphia
Detroit has the tough assignment of hitting the road after playing at home yesterday, but going to Philadelphia should help soften the effect. The Flyers continue to struggle at home with a league-worst 4-15-7 mark. By contrast no other team in the league has fewer 11 wins at home. The Red Wings also come in playing well with six wins in their last seven games, including yesterday's 7-4 victory over Calgary in which Detroit peppered the Flames with 50 shots on goal. Henrik Zetterberg kept up his offensive surge with two goals and two assists to give him seven goals and nine assists over the last seven games.
