Yates has always had good cars at the plate tracks. I'm not sold on them yet until they can prove they have gained some ground on the downforce tracks.
LMAO ... kb, what has DEI's "Specialty" always been? Plate tracks!
I'm really interested to see how Montoya is going to do. They seem to have very high expectations out of him. I just don't know if he can reach them in Ganassi equipment.
I'm interested too. That's why i threw him in the D group!
Only because Jr has only won like 2 races in the last 2 years and Waltrip sucked. C'mon buddy, add up all the Wins for Jr. & Waltrip and tell me the % of plate tracks. It's NOT EVEN CLOSE.
DEI has sucked the last 2 years at winning any races, let alone the ones they used to dominate (Daytona, Talladega) so i think Menard is no better served being there.

Waltrip sucked and there's no doubt about it that the only reason he won races is because he was in the DEI equipment when they were dominating the plate tracks. My point is, Dale Jr. has made a run for the championship in 04' and 06' winning at tracks such as Atlanta, Phoenix, Richmond, Bristol and such. Truex picked up on a little something to finish the year coming in runner up to Biffle at Homestead in thej finale. Yates hasn't won a (non plate) race or even contended since Sadler won at Texas in 04'. They haven't come close to making the chase the last 2 years. I think we may be arguing a mute point anyway cause Gilliland raced in too many races last year to qualify for rookie status this year anyway I believe.
kb, I thought they were talking last night about David being a Rookie?
When talking about "Teams" in Nascar, i'm sorry, but i think DEI is way behind others. I think Roush, Hendricks, RCR & Joe Gibbs Racing are all way ahead of DEI as far as on track performance and as a team. I think Chip Ganassi is about to pass DEI soon too. IMO, DEI needs to give JR. whatever he wants and sign one of these high profile drivers away from another team like all the other teams mentioned have done. I have nothing against DEI but they are slipping back and too much of the news involving them isn't even track related. If they lose JR. next year they should just sell off the other two teams because as bright of a future as Truex and Menard have, they havn't done ANYTHING yet!

I can't argue that. I'm saying for now, give me Menard over Gilliland as Yates has proven less than DEI in recent years.
kb, he looked GREAT last night and i think you may be underestimating this guy!
Possibly, and I'll be the first to eat crow if he does well. He just tore up so many cars last year. albeit, he didn't come into the best situation. I just have to wait and see if Yates has made improvements before I give him his due
