JUST FUCKING SAW THIS A FEW SECONDS AGO, OR WE WOULD HAVE MADE SOME EASY CASH TONIGHT. THIS IS POSTED FROM ANOTHER SITE:
Duquesne LaSalle info you may not know :
The Dukes have run off 4 straight wins and covers since implementing what they call "frenzy" ball. Since its inceptionon on sunday 1/21 at UMass, "frenzy" ball is allowing the Dukes to rack up scoring chances and to ave 96 pts per game. If you would like to know the history behind what prompted Coach Everhart's decision to make the radical change, LMK and I will provide the background.
At the time of the change, the Dukes were 5-10 and fading fast. They now stand at 9-11 and face a LaSalle team which is 9-14. Coming off their 111-92 win over St Bonnie (AT St Bonnie), the surprise in the Dukes camp is that Coach still isnt happy. It sems the Dukes still havent properly been able to employ "frenzy" ball as the Coach has designed it to be played.
What are the doing wrong??? This info comes from within the team and from a small report I saw on a local sports show. Coach thinks the Dukes are still learning the system. Once they learn to properly employ "frenzy" ball, the Dukes will be averaging 100 attempts per game and the will be forcing 30 turnovers per game. LMAO Lastly, the Dukes have been burning to much clock according to the Coach. Every possession should result in a shot before 12 secs have expired from the shot clock
They almost reached the magic # for turnovers forced against Temple but have only managed to reach 83 Atts in a game, the last one against St Bonnie. If they even only reach the 80 Atts per game goal, you have to remember that about 30-35% of those atts are gong to be from behind the arc.
With the shooting ability of Achara, Jackson and Mitchell, they will knock down 12 -15 3's a game as most of these 3's occur with open looks due to their defensive pressure and the 12 sec rule. Duquesne games also produce many fouls for each side, therefore, both teams get to the line frequently. Simple math shows that 3's and FTs should produce 50 pts alone for the Dukes each game. That means all they need to do is knock down 30% of their other 45-50 shots from the field each game to reach the 90 pt make.
As for tonight, the thing I cant understand is this. LaSalle turns the ball over alot. They dont have the athletes to simply milk the clock in the face of a 40 min a game trapping defense. Why anyone thinks LaSalle is equipped to exploit the "frenzy" defense by slowing the game down just doesnt make sense to me.
The only real advantage LaSalle has is on the offensive glass. They will win the rebound battle, but frankly, the Dukes dont care. They wont allow LaSalle to run the clock. The offensive rebound advantage with produce 1 of 2 results. 1. LaSalle with benefit with easy put backs, but that just fuels the system and the quick pace. 2. The Dukes will trap and/or foul before they will any team to run the clock. That is also part of the system.
Until books actually look at what is happening with "frenzy" ball and its effects on scoring, they will not understand that totals will need to be set in the 180's. They are plugging #'s into their formulas but the last 5 games dont compensate for the low scoring #'s generated in the 1st 15 Duq games this year. We still have a decided advantage until this books inflate the totals to encourage under money.
What is nice tonight is the public is seeing this game through a similar lense. They are still on the under because they dont know how the system is producing the hugh scores for the last 5 games. The "they are due to go under" and the "they cant keep scoring 95 a game" fallacies still aply tonight.
My prediction, Dukes score in to the 90's tonight. If LaSalle can just score the 79 they scored on Duq (at Duq 3 weeks ago) before the advent of "frenzy" ball, then they should be able to do the same or more tonight.
Good luck to those on the over....may the points be with us
