-- Kelvin Hayden, who ran INT back for TD, played college ball at Illinois, where his coach was Bears' OC Ron Turner.

-- Hayden's score was just 10th INT run back for score in a Super Bowl.

-- Devin Hester's KR for TD was 8th in Super Bowl history, but his was first opening kick run back for score.

-- There were 20 points scored in first quarter; in previous six Super Bowls combined, 19 first quarter pts were scored.

Monday's List of 13: Summing up a soggy Super Bowl

            13) I'm not buying Peyton Manning as the Super Bowl MVP, although he is obviously Colts' best player; Rhodes would have gotten my vote, either that or split Rhodes/Addai.

            12) That said, I'm happy for Manning, who can "aw, shucks" his way straight to Canton; what a consummate team player.

            11) I am totally shocked the Bears allowed 191 rushing yards.

            10) Tony Dungy, Mike Ditka, Tom Flores are only men to be head coach and player on a Super Bowl champ.

            9) There are rumors Dungy wants to join the ministry and is done coaching in Indianapolis.

            8) AFC has now won eight of last ten Super Bowls.

            7) This was the first Super Bowl played in rain.

            6) Tough times for Bengals, who now have to read articles on how the Colts won, and won with class. Meanwhile, Bengals had nine players arrested this season, and their most visible player, Chad Johnson, questioned by Miami police after guy was murdered this week. Real nice.

            5) Tough week for Eli Manning, who now has even more to live up to, while playing in nation's toughest market. He has shown no signs of being anything near the player Peyton is.

            4) Since 2000, five of the seven NFC top seeds advanced to the Super Bowl, but all five lost the Super Bowl. '99 Rams are last NFC top seed to win the big game.

            3) Chargers are early favorite to win next year's Super Bowl.

            2) The best thing about Colts winning a title is that it shows that a coach can be quiet, firm and successful, and that not all the great coaches are control freak screamers.

            1) I hope Peyton Manning can parlay this title into a chance to make some TV commercials and earn some extra cash.

              Syracuse at Connecticut
Connecticut was finally able to snap its five-game losing streak on Saturday, but needed overtime to get by lower-rated Rutgers (61-50) at home. That's the way it's been for the Huskies in the new year as they've gone just 3-7 with the wins coming against South Florida, St. John's and Rutgers...not exactly the beasts of the Big East. Meanwhile Jim Calhoun's team has dropped league games to West Virginia, Marquette, Pitt, Louisville, Providence and DePaul by an average margin of 9.5 points. Syracuse has had its own problems and was embarrassed at home by Notre Dame (103-91) last week, the first time the Orange had allowed a team to reach the century mark in the Carrier Dome in 10 years. Perhaps that did serve as a wake-up call as Syracuse rebounded with a win over DePaul (75-69) on Saturday. And the Orange do have a road win at Marquette to their credit this year. Given UConn's troubles, the Orange look like a good underdog pick (+3 1/2) according to Dunkel, which has Syracuse favored straight up by 3. Dunkel Pick: Syracuse (+3 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

                LA Lakers at Atlanta
Kobe Bryant showed he's hard to stop once he gets going when he put up 39 points in a 118-102 win over the Wizards on Saturday. While the Hawks may not be able to slow Kobe down tonight, they do have a scoring machine of their own in Joe Johnson. Johnson scored 37 points yesterday in a 101-99 overtime win against New Jersey that gave the Hawks their first three-game road winning streak since 2000. It's indicative of the improved play of Mike Woodson's team, which has won five of its last seven overall with Johnson scoring at least 30 points in all five of the wins. Atlanta looks like a good home underdog pick (+6) according to Dunkel, which has the Hawks favored straight up by 1 1/2. Dunkel Pick: Atlanta (+6). Here are all of today's games.

                  Detroit at NY Rangers
The Rangers are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference and desperately in need of a win to close the gap with eighth-place Carolina. But New York has been unable to put together a consistent drive and comes in having lost six of its last nine, including two straight to Tampa Bay and Toronto. The Wings have shaken off a three-game losing streak in which they scored only three goals total by winning three straight and averaging four goals in each of the wins. Detroit's leading scorer Henrik Zetterberg (21 goals) has led the charge with two goals and five assists during the three-game streak. Detroit should be able to pull this one out on the road according to Dunkel, which has the Red Wings favored by 1 1/2. Dunkel Pick: Detroit. Here are all of today's games.
