Interesting that no one even attempted to answere bear's question. The truth is that Indy didn't even make a serious attempt at resigning him because of all of the money they had invested in other guys.
In fact, after putting all of that money in Manning, Harrison, and Wayne, there was no way that they were going to give james what he deserved. They couldn't put that much money into one side of the ball.
Indy actually put James on the trading block last year, and then ultimately franchised him and paid him the one year average of the top 5 RB's. Even though Colts management basically told him that he was the odd man out, to my knowledge he never badmouthed them publicly but instead said that he understood that this was a business.
I'd venture to guess that you'd be hardpressed to find ANY colts player that would have anything negative to say about Edgerrin james. The Colts organization pretty much made the decision for James. To imply anything else tells me that you didn't really keep up with that situation.
Now, with all of that being said, i'll be hte first to admit that after leaving Indy was a forgone conclusion, money most definitely was the deciding factor in where he was going to sign.

Dude, the minute he become a FA, Arizona offered a BIG deal and he bolted. Literally that quick. Indy didn't even have a chance to counter when he ran!
