  • Regarding Systems And Trends

I am going to give some information I have learned to this forum regarding systems and trends-I have been at this game for a long time and the only way to beat this game is to shop lines, side with the books, and be very good at money management. This of course is just my opinion-Wayne for example seems to do well and I notice he doesnt usually side with the books-but I would guess he shops lines and is good at money management---I believe that systems come and go-look at the system regarding unranked home teams favored over ranked teams in CBB-over the last 10 years it is 52%. This year around the same. But for a while if you followed you made money---now if you fade the system you would be making money. I personally do well fading the public in big TV games and I dont chase when I am losing (most bettors downfall). I bet all of my games for the same amount except a few I feel very strongly about (GOY plays). These plays I will bet between 3-6 times my normal play-this is because I feel like I have a real edge on the books in these games. But all the systems and trends every talks about-the linesmakers are the ones putting these out in public view-this is how the line is made so dont just jump on and think you have a huge edge with these. Good luck and I would love to hear input.

many times the difference in a winning night and a losing night depends on whether you win by a hook or lose by a hook which is why if you are serious about this game you must have several outs and only play when you get the better lines

I totally agree. The hardest thing about it is money management in my opinion. Great thread. Thanks.

I disagree with the siding with the book part. I see your plays, you go with the public pften, what's your logic with that?

Money management! Money management! Money management!

I believe sport bettors primarily lose for two reason.

First and foremost they lose because they bet more than they can comfortably lose. If a bettor loses and they bet within their means they won't take their loses hard.

I believe losing more than one can afford to lose clouds a cappers judgement and their ability to cap effectively. They make desperate plays. Looking for the so-called LOCK. It also leads to poor money management.

Determine a bank roll you can comfortably lose. I think most adults could comfortably afford to lose $1,000. Most bets should represent 2% of bankroll or $20. The most one should wager is 5% or $50.

Bet what you can afford to lose. It'll make you a better capper. It would probably lead to winning and no longer losing.

no offense man, but I know the more plays you play, the worse your chances are of winning, but you don't seem to consider that based on the number of plays you put out

I wasn't trying to be negative, I'm just curious, you're saying bet with the books, but you don't. My opinion is that books don't care really, they just want players on both sides. Betting against square bettors is always a good thing, but I could careless what the books want.

That's why Coverboy and I don't reveal our systems. Reveal a good system and it'll turn to shit. Some sport bettors believe in the long run all systems fall back to 50% I don't buy that. I have a system in the NFL that's had one losing season. Back in 1992. And one juice losing season at 18-17. It's won 61% and has been active over 400 games since 1989. A phenomenal rate. This season is a dog system. Even in 2005, where favorites won about 57%, it was a slightly profitable system.

I have similar systems in the NBA. Although, in the NBA i've had to do some adjusting. The games has changed the last few season with more offense. I've had to discard some systems. But that also breeds new fresh system.

my oldest system dates to 1974 in the nfl- my advice to system lovers is pick a hanful you like that have won over time- bet all the plays for the same amount- and track them diligently bol gc-

I personally do well fading the public in big TV games and I dont chase when I am losing by what you post here, you chase more than a Koon Dog after a possum (most bettors downfall). I bet all of my games for the same amount except a few you did say a few GOYs----geez LM I feel very strongly about (GOY plays). Linemover, I have nothing against you, but you throw this out there, and make statements (eluding to teaching others), and you contradict your self terribly....

                              You asked for input---here's mine.......

You say you've done well with your methods ??????, I certainly hope you're not referring to your record on this Forum....

You say you don't chase, well watching you post, numerous plays, one after another, when you're losing, 1/2 time plays, and it's ironic don't do that when your games are winning..

One week, it who does your book need, next week it another, indictative of your plays....

One week unranked vs ranked, next week ranked vs unranked....which is it....If you knew when to turn this system off and on, you'd be a millionaire......Whats your record, on these this year, while you're saying your doing well....

I said it many times before....Post your plays, quit the hype shit, and when you say something, make sense, and don't throw rocks at your own glass house....

I can't understand what prompts you to post this kind of shit without thinking, unless you crave attention.......

Money mgmt huh----give us some examples of how you've managed to make money on the picks you've shown here....

And another thing, a FEW Goys----give me a break....Others can come in here and chastise me for getting on you, well I personaly don't care.........You are known to me, as the Indians referred to Custer----man with a forked tongue.......

                              I don't understand you at all----kapt

PS---all the above statements have been narated numerous times......Trends/systems, money mgmt, no chasing, etc.....we all know about this.......but some actualy practice it....you need to practice what you preach....

Don't make me go Cajun on your Ass!
