  • Who's the worst quarterback to win a Super Bowl?

This is obviously a Rex Grossman-related question. I find that the game is almost always won by a great quarterback or one who was playing great that year (Starr, Montana, Dawson, Griese, Namath, Bradshaw, Elway, Brady, Young, even Warner). Poor or average QBs never seem to get it done. So who was the worst?

    My nominations:

    Dilfer
    Doug Williams

I'm hard pressed to name anybody else who wasn't at least very good.

Didn't Grossman play some great games this year? He had 7 games with a QB rating of 100 or more (The same as Manning).

Roethlisberger was pretty good last year.

McMahon wasn't bad in his year either.

So are you saying Grossman wouldn't be on the list of three worst if the Bears win (which they won't)?

If you are talking about single game worst you have to talk about roethlis"bum" who was terrible. His passer rating was 21. He threw for 123 yards, 0 td's, and 2 picks.

I'm actually talking about worst in general, not just worst that day. My point is that mediocre or poor QBs lose Super Bowls. they don't win them.

Correct. I would take Grossman before all of these winners .......

                    Brad Johnson
                    Trent Dildo
                    Doug Williams
                    Mark Rypien
                    Jeff Hostetler

Well i am a phil simms fan, but the year he broke the record in the super bowl going 22-25 passing he actually had a bad year according to him and statistically. In fact he threw 21 TD's and 22 Int's that year. He made that comment this week when referring to Rex saying Grossman actually had a better statistical year than he did the year he had the great performance. The reason I like big games is that many times the guy who rises above it and has a big game is not a superstar player

I was gonna offer Doug Williams....Had a great game in the Super Bowl but he wasn't a starter the year the skins were in the Bowl or the following year.
Didn't either he or Tim Smith get cut the following year?

David Woodley (god rest his soul) was pretty bad also for Miami

Besides ... When you are getting 6.5-7, does it matter if you win? Unless it is a teaser or ML wager ... or the line is a pick'em, i'm not sure this matters really.
