John, you probably know by now that Bonds has left the team to be with his father. Does this change the status of your GOY?

Guys try to remember that it is baseball and unlike other sports with great athletes it just doesn't mean as much. Example: Jordan(NBA) you know was going to get 30 every night out. Montana(NFL) has the ball in his hand on every offensive play. Lemieux (NHL)was on the ice almost half the time.Yes Bonds is (IMO) 1 of the top 3 Players all-time BUT he goes 0-3,1-4 just like everyone else and even though he hit 2 bombs the other day it is becoming tougher and tougher for him to play with his father's condition getting worse.I guess all i'm trying to say is that they can stick a right handed bat in against Glavine and if he goes 1-4 than there is NO guarantee Bonds would have had a better night AND the Giants who have been struggling a little in their last couple won't sit back waiting for Barry to win it for them. I just don't think it's any different than the many times he sits out a day game after a night game.

Wayne, normally I would agree with you 100%. However, I would imagine that John puts out only one MLB GOY annually and I am not sure, if I were him, that I might not want to wait for a better opportunity if I knew that, by far, the team's best hitter was out! He may still want to play the Giants, but to play them as the GOY without Bonds, I would like to hear him say he still wants it.
