                Six-Pack for Tuesday

-- Toronto Raptors are 20-22, pretty good record for team no one thought would be any good.

-- Toronto's 42nd game means that the second half of the NBA season just started. Thats a lot of ball.

-- Mikki Moore had 22 for the Nets Monday, Jason Kidd had a triple double, and the Nets still lost in Sacramento.

-- The Suns are 29-2 in their last 31 games. Dallas is 19-1 in its last 20. If they play a best-of-7 in June, thats good stuff.

-- Wow, the Celtics are horrible.

-- University of San Diego folks won't be happy when they watch tape of Monday's game on ESPNU; the announcers amused themselves for much of game by making fun of the program and their small crowd (school is on break).

Tuesday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but........

                  13) Where exactly do the Cowboys go from here? Had Bill Parcells stayed one more year, they could have made big run at Bill Cowher next winter, but now what? Dallas has a new stadium opening in next three years; this is a critical hire.

                  12) Colts making Super Bowl the year Edgerrin James leaves as a free agent is going to hurt free agent running backs in next few offseasons.

                  11) Steve Sarkisian, 32-year old assistant at USC, turned the Raiders down, so they went with 31-year old Lane Kiffin, also a Trojan assistant; I never thought I'd live long enough to see Oakland become the NFL's worst franchise.

                  10) Well, the Lions are probably still worse, technically, but their stadium is so nice, it makes the football team seem a little less putrid. And if they ever fired Matt Millen, they might go back to simply being mediocre.

                  9) If Kiffin had turned Raiders down, you get the idea some USC ballboy was going to get a very unexpected phone call from Al Davis. The cover of The Sporting News this week is adorned by an unflattering picture of Davis, asking if you would want this man running your favorite team? Eeesh.

                  8) Cam Cameron's departure left Chargers without an OC; guy expected to take his place, Rob Chudzinski, bolted to become OC in Cleveland, which creates two questions.

                  7) First, who does Marty get as a playcaller, since he is a lame duck himself? Second, why would anyone rather be the OC in Cleveland than San Diego, given weather and talent? Its not like Romeo Crennel is on solid footing near Lake Erie.

                  6) When I was growing up, only two guys in neighborhood who drove Cadillacs were the beer guy and the undertaker.

                  5) Imagine being the guy who owns the company that makes poker chips? He must live in same neighborhood as the guy who invented the plastic tip on shoelaces.

                  4) Best new name on the PGA Tour: Andrew Buckle. Bet he really belts it off the tee.

                  3) Indiana-Illinois college hoop Tuesday, first meeting of two coaching staffs that don't like each other, after the Hoosiers talked top recruit Eric Gordon out of his commitment to the Illinois last fall.

                  2) LSU-Alabama football recruiting wars are already in mid-season form, as Nick Saban is recruiting players who already committed to the Tigers. This could get very ugly

                    Denver at Seattle
The Nuggets got a shot in the arm last night with the return of Carmelo Anthony and rode that momentum to an easy home victory over hapless Memphis (115-98). Tonight Denver hits the road to face a Seattle team that has played better of late. The Sonics have bounced back from a six-game slide by winning their last three -- all at home -- including wins over higher-rated Utah and Cleveland. Ray Allen has been shooting well (32.33 ppg over that span), while Nick Collison has averaged 13.66 boards to give Seattle a presence underneath. This one could be a tough backside of back-to-back nights for Denver and makes Seattle a good underdog pick (+3) at home according to Dunkel, which has the Sonics favored straight up by 1 1/2. Dunkel Pick: Seattle (+1 1/2). Here are all of today's games.
