I think it is a lot more complicated and goes beyond that. In some games especially with double digit lines, I think sometimes that if the favorite is comfortably in the lead, there might be monetary inducements if they win by under the spread.
I have seen too many easy spread winners dissipate in the to think it is mere coincidence.
Just last night App. State was ahead by 20+ minutes late in the game with the spread at 10 1/2 or 11 to see them win by 9 and not cover;could games like this by sheer coincidence?
Answer maybe, but if it could be proven, I would make a HUGE bet that there are attempts sometimes with double digit favorites by players, officials or both to at least try to make sure the dog covers.

hey man i thought about this game all yesterday. i read your post and took it. big deal if they didnt cover. i appreciate you giving me and everyone else advice. i mean they were up 11 w/ a min or 2 left. you coulda easily hit this one. i dont regret taking them at all. keep them coming cause the hot plays are the best to take...

Good Luck to ya Seao- never mind the play- as stated you gave it in good faith- I have also tried that and lately it is rare if it hits. I generally like the second half plays anyway.
