  • If you think Nick Saban is bad......

    .......how about Todd Graham?

On Thursday, he accepts an extension to stay at Rice through 2012.
Yesterday, he accepts the coaching job at Tulsa!

He'd been at Rice exactly one year. Most of his Rice staff is expected to quit and go to Tulsa.

Tulsa contacted Graham immediately after Kragthorpe was hired away by Louisville. Graham went to the Rice AD and asked if they could match the offer from Tulsa. The AD OFFERED an extension through 2012 that was never signed and Graham ultimately decided to go to Tulsa. Graham recently hired Herb Hand from West Virginia and Gus Malzahn from Arkansas to be co-OC for him at Tulsa.

I didn't know that about Malzahn.

He's the guy who Arkansas named as its offensive coordinator as part of the deal to get Mitch Mustain to go there as QB. Malzahn was Mustain's high school coach. Mustain was pretty much a bust his freshman year and Malzahn was disliked by the other coaches (you can imagine why).

I think some website needs to be set up just to track all of these coaching moves!

Tulsa is the smallest school (enrollment wise) with a football team in Div I football.....Private school..

Not known for paying big bucks, but the alumni is wealthy, and they need to let go of some of that monies they have.....

until then, what you saw in the last 3 years, is as good as its gonna get....kapt

you know the funny thing about it if any these players gets caught excepting plane money to fly home for funeral or except a dinner theyre scrutinized and might be suspended but a contract in college football means nothing. I understand rules need to be in place to stop cheating by institutions by giving to recuits and players but it seems to me that the players play by a set of strict rules while the college coaches can bounch around like an 19 year college girl on campus.

Rice and Tulsa are #1 and #2 in smallest undergrad enrollment, both under 3000 students.
You can't always get what you want, but if you try some time, you might find, you get what you need.
