  • Gator Haters - Don't Read This!

What writers have said about Florida's national championship victory over Ohio State on Monday night:

The Gators faced 10 bowl teams and went 9-1. Their schedule was ranked No. 1 in the country in terms of opponents' winning percentage.

    And they weren't worthy? Please.

As it turned out, it was Ohio State that was overrated. The Buckeyes, we now know, gorged themselves in the weak Big Ten. They played six bowl teams - not an impressive number considering everybody goes to a bowl game these days - and their toughest opponent, Michigan, was exposed by USC in the Rose Bowl.

Turning a desert into The Swamp, now that's magic.
    - Dave George,
    The Palm Beach Post

The Florida coach dug deep into a playbook that seems thicker than an unabridged Webster's dictionary. Consider that in the first half, the Gators used more quarterbacks (three) than the Buckeyes completed passes (two).
    - Terry Pluto,
    Akron Beacon Journal

All the hand-wringing and consternation over Florida being given a title shot seems silly now, doesn't it?

The BCS got it right - a fact its bleating critics will be sure to conveniently overlook when they blast the system again next year.

So many people questioned Florida's pedigree you'd have thought it fashioned its 12-1 record against Little Sisters of the Poor University rather than having survived a brutal Southeastern Conference schedule.

Urban Meyer used so many formations that Ohio State developed a nervous tic. And about the only Gator who didn't line up at quarterback was Meyer's wife, Shelley.

    ESPN.com and
    self-proclaimed former
    Florida Football basher

Call Gainesville, Florida, what it is: the capital of college sports in America. Florida senior quarterback Chris Leak . . . played with the composure of a world-class violinist. . . . Twenty years after coach Urban Meyer was a $6,000 graduate assistant at Ohio State under Earle Bruce, Meyer defeated the school he grew up rooting for in Ashtabula, Ohio. Around Gainesville, he's earned a new nickname: Urban Legend.
    - Richard Deitsch,
    Sports Illustrated

The coaching whiz kid from Ashtabula, Ohio, delivered his Florida Gators to the desert Monday night. The result? Well, in a word: Chomp.

The Gators didn't slowly chew on the Buckeyes, they sawed off their soggy legs. The No. 1-ranked, undefeated Big Ten superpower was dissected.

Meyer's innovative, confounding spread offense should be renamed the multiple-headache set. The Gators scooted like water bugs. The Buckeyes were mired in grass quicksand. Today, I have three questions:

Anyone down in Gainesville remember Steve what's-his-name?

How Gator-green do you think Pete Carroll feels this morning?

And, what was Notre Dame thinking?

Meyer was too young for the Fighting Irish in 2001, right? Tell it to Bowling Green and Utah. And, now, the Gators.

Meyer is an all-purpose wonder. In a profession with many bright minds, he is beginning to separate himself, and blindingly so.

Home field is worth 3 points in favor of the home team.

We need another playoff between Ohio State and Michigan.

Who really is the best in a so-so Big 10 conference?

Please check out the rose bowl to see how Mich vs. Fla would have went. There is no debate. USC has speed just like Fla and the Big 10 is too slow. Besides Lloyd Carr is one of the dumbest coaches I've ever seen. If u think Tressel looked lost on Mon imagine Lloyd Carr trying to match wits with Meyer.

I know what I think but if I wanna debate this I can come up with legitimate reasons.

USC played what was in effect a home game for them and Florida played in the desert. How would Fla v Ohio St looked if they played the championship game in the Meadowlands?

                PEACE

I am tired of hearing your shit about OSU being frauds. Fuck you ass hole let me guess you are from cali and like USC. Well your dumbasses would have been there if you didn't fuck it up against lonely old UCLA who by the way suck fucking ass. I don't even need to mention there score in their bowl game. Listen you guys laid a fucking egg too there buddy. It happens 51 days off lose Ted Ginn Jr. I am not trying to make excuses nor do I need to. The Gators deserve it they were better that night. Just like a couple of years ago when Miami lost to OSU. Same kind of situation. So before you go running your California Cock Sucker look in the mirror ass hole. The Same fucking thing happend to USC a couple of weeks ago it just wasn't the BCS championship. So go fuck yourself.

sorry Kap not trying to be immature just tired of hearing crap about a bunch of 20 yr. old kids playing a game. OSU was a good team and it happens to everyone even the romans went down. I just think it is funny how people can sit there and honestly say some of things they say. I was actually rooting for Florida to cover. But some of this crap is not needed. You know what would end all of this. That would be a playoff. Just my two cents.

Heard too much pre-game BS from so many about how Florida didn't belong in the game and how Ohio State would destroy Florida.

BTW, I did mean harm to such people.

As far as the immature, they should grow up, Verne.
