Putting my neck on the line. LOL. In all seriousness, I love this board and check it everyday. I have mostly stayed on the sidelines as I am still learning and watching. I have added comments (helpful, I hope) here and there when I felt that I could offer suggestions or thoughts. In addition, I have played fantasy football with a few and entered the NFL Picks Contest run by Wayne (I have completely flamed out the last 5 weeks). So, I guess I would classify myself as the "mature newbie".
In regards to betting, I am mostly a trend player, but rely on gut as well. I research and look for "opportunities" in cbb when available. I will have ups and downs as everyone as well. I will post when I can and keep a record as that builds trust and shows honesty. This is done to keep me honest, on my game, and show that I have nothing to hide. Hopefully, I can offer new thoughts/assurances to members that are interested. In the worst case, I could become great fade material (hell, those are some of the best posters, Ace Ace comes to mind). But remember, at the end of the day, your actions are your responsibility, so bet only what you can and if you feel confident, never becuase someone told you so!
So, without further talk...
Unit and half
Texas -8.5, talented team at home, not sold on the Tigers, hope this is a tune up for OU this weekend rather than the classic look ahead
Ok State +9, I don't like this line as it seems out of wack, but I bit as OSU has the talent, just not the depth; this is more of a play against KU who has a Jeckyl/Hide complex at home
3/4 unit
Colorado +16, just believe it is too many points by a mediocre OU squad
Wichita State -4
UNC -17.5, have you seen UVa on the road? ugly! Willing to give the points to a team that is starting to put it all together
St. Joe's +3, fade of Temple more than anything else
Duke/GA Tech Under 139, trend
UGA/USC Under 131.5, trend
Purdue/Indy Under 133, trend
A lot plays, but that is what shook out today. I looked at the following but passed:
GW +5.5, trends point to UMass but they are headed in the wrong direction of late
TN -1.5, this is a nutty line and tells me to take Vandy but just could not pull the trigger, believe that the Vols are the much better team, but they might be looking ahead to OSU this weekend
Nebraska +1, trend of road team in last 4, just don't trust the 'huskers on the road
IL-Chicago +5.5, this is a really goofy line as I thought it should be double digits here, just can't pull the trigger
Good luck in whatever you play today, tomorrow, and the future!
Peace,
kj
