Does he realize it's the 2nd quarter? Dumbest decision I've seen in years. They may find a way to win but unbelievably stupid call.

What is Tressel on?

Florida's offense had scored on every possession no matter where they got the ball. Going for it, and ideally keeping the UF offense off the field was the right call. If he makes the first down - which they do 9 out of 10 times - and they go on to score, he's being called "gutsy" and a "genius".Originally posted by dirtymikeNo the call was punt. There was no need to go for it in that situation. Big mistake lucky it only cost them 3.
I'll give Jim Tressel the benefit of the doubt, considering his past record and the fact that before today, everyone was calling him the best coach in the nation. Now he's an idiot? Please.Records:
NCAA Hoops (38-34-2, +4.59*)
NFL Sides (34-25, +12.15*)
NFL Totals (18-14-1, +8.23*)
NCAA Foots Plays (65-48-4, +21.47*)
NBA Plays (4-1-0, +5.92*)

Tressel is no less a good coach today then yesterday. His team is simply not #1. He has a good program, but strangley enough, Ohio State cannot beat an SEC team in a bowl game (0-8 all time). Very weird IMO. I do not think Ohio State could beat Florida more than once if they played 5 games. I DO THINK USC may have the best team talent-wise in Division I. But the best team doesn't always win the title.

I thought it was a good decision. He had to try something to wake up his team.Originally posted by chaching22Does he realize it's the 2nd quarter? Dumbest decision I've seen in years. They may find a way to win but unbelievably stupid call.

If your going for it on 4th & 1 on your own 30 when your down by 10 with 3 minutes left. Your basically saying you cannot stop Florida's offense. Knowing that if you don't make it, you almost guarentee Florida 3-7 points. I'm not saying Tressel is an idiot. Just the smart play imo would have been to punt and go into halftime down 10 not 20. Never the less that play really did not effect the outcome of the game. Florida just played better than them.Originally posted by Tomorrows PaperFlorida's offense had scored on every possession no matter where they got the ball.
