I'm 2-0 on bowls, both with two star plays, and both with dogs (Kentucky and Navy).
1* Notre Dame +8 1/2
My strongest reason for the play is the coaching matchup. Weis has had a full month to prepare for LSU's defense and I look for Quinn to have success against it. LSU is a better team (marginally) from the strongest conference in CFB but the number here seems too high for me. Don't overrate LSU playing in Louisiana as ND will have zillions of fans there.
1* Western Michigan +7
Cincinnati is approaching this game in bizarre fashion. Incoming HC Kelly is being allowed to coach the team even though he is unfamiliar with the players. This must be culture shock for the team which lost D'Antonio after the regular season and likely resents the changes the new guy is making. In addition, the Cincy defensive coordinator who was originally to act as HC in this game was bounced and several of Kelly's assistants from Central Michigan are joining the staff even though they coached their old team in a bowl game just one week ago! What a mess. Western Michigan played in the tougher half of the MAC and ought to be able to keep this close against a very disjointed opponent. (Note: this game is Saturday)
