  • They Are Cold, Unhappy and Don't Care -- How Can Anyone Bet On Them

the MPC Computers Bowl in Boise, Idaho is presenting many of the Canes with a new challenge: frigid weather.

“[The ball] felt like a brick,” receiver Lance Leggett told the Miami Herald after Thursday morning’s practice in 18 degree weather. “You can`t feel your fingers, and once you catch the ball you can`t get a grip on it.” The cold weather, the mentality, the blue field - I swear, that blue field makes it colder.”

BUT I THINK THIS HURTS MIAMI EVEN MORE

Sunday night marks the final game of a season that most Hurricanes wish had already ended. It’s the least attractive bowl game in which Miami has participated in recent memory. It’s also head coach Larry Coker’s last game on the team’s sideline, with hardly a “let`s win one for the Coker” to be heard.

Perhaps the most troubling sign for Sunday night’s game is the frequency with which returning Canes players are referring to next year. Over and over they talk of potentially returning 19 starters for 2007.

THEY ACT LIKE THEY HAVE GIVEN UP FOR THIS YEAR

I love Nevada in this situation. Once again, it's the hungry happy team, against the big time, complaining team that dosen't want to be there. There is where the temperture right now is 30, falling to 21 during the game.

ONE MORE THING. WHO HAS MIAMI BEAT THIS YEAR.

The only beat one ranked team. Boston College by just three.

It isn't the same Miami guys. Sure, they played a tougher schedule than Nevada but it dosen't matter if they didn't win those games.

I cannot believe 65% of the public is playing the cold, unhappy, uncarring team. I'm playing Nevada both plus 3.5 and M/L +151. Good luck whoever you play.

Understand your viewpoint, as I thought that way at first, but I believe the 'Canes will come out and play today! Tight at first, but expect them to loosen up and take it to Nevada. Remember, Nevada had a weak schedule and they were exposed by Boise State last game. Gotten give the points and go with the 'Canes (that hurt coming from a Va Tech alum). Good luck in whatever you play!

      Happy New Year All,

            The Little School Covered

A nice way to end 2006. Every bowl year, I try to look for the teams who are not happy with the Bowl Game they are playing in. These are the teams I always bet against, regardless of stats and regardless of who they played.

This year I found four teams that I made pretty good sized bets AGAINST with a small play on the Money Line, if they are the dog. Miami was my favorite this year because of the turmoil they were going thru plus being a warm weather school having to play in the freezing cold. The other three teams I found were Clemson, Texas and California. Cal covered, but I won playing against the other two. Just something to think about a year from now. In the meantime, I want to wish everyone a Happy Winning New Year.

PS: I like Penn State to reach back for that little extra tomorrow to send Joe Paterno out a winner. Play both M/L and Plus 4. Hope this starts the New Year off right.
