I'm now 2-0 with bowl plays, hitting 2* wins on Kentucky and Navy and hope to continue my rebound from an awful December in the final week of the NFL.
2* Broncos -10 (-115)
I posted this one earlier at the above line. Broncos are likely to need to a win if KC wins earlier in the day. Denver looks better each week with Cutler and faces a 49ers team with a deceptively so-so record solely from playing in a joke of a division. This has the look of a blowout.
1* Ravens -9
The Ravens may be the second best AFC team right now and have a strong ATS record at home dating back five years. Baltimore's defense has been outstanding, this game is potentially critical, Buffalo is playing for nothing. The number is large but Buffalo may not score 10 points.
1* Chiefs -2 1/2
I'm not a big fan of team trends but KC's record in its final game of the season when playing at home is off the charts dating back two decades. While the Chiefs need a miracle to make the playoffs, they are laying a small number against a Jacksonville team with internal struggles and a season of missed opportunities. I predict a Chiefs win and a firing of Del Rio by Tuesday.
1* Jets -11
Oakland has the NFL's worst offense and the overachieving Jets sew up a shocking playoff berth with a win. The coaching mismatch between the elderly Shell and the innovative and young Mangini is overwhelming. Jets win in a SHUTOUT.
1* Colts -9
The game is meaningless for the Colts unless Baltimore loses (they won't). But I think one of Lawrence Welk's Lennon Sisters is starting at QB for the Dolphins.
Special note: I may have an additional play on the night game; and while I hate the "TEAM THAT NEEDS TO WIN" angle, each of the games I have chosen goes against a crewd-up opponent facing a team with solid motivation.
