  • Bowl Thread - 2006

Mr. Negative's first posted picks for the 2006 Bowls (ongoing thread for me):

    1* Northern Illinois +12.5

Going waaaaay against the grain on this one. Everyone I respect on here has TCU (as well as my local who also has 47.5 for o/u versus 46.5 offshore). If everyone is on TCU, why did the line drop instead of rise? Weird stuff.

5* BYU -3 -105 (wait to play as the line is dropping!)

I have to say I LOVE this play. Oregon defense versus this potent O? Are you kidding me? And the line is dropping in my favor? Have to say my largest wager on any bowl would be 5 units, and that is what this will be for me.

A lot of great reasoning here (lmao). Good luck to all and especially best wishes to each of you for making this board the best anywhere on the 'net.

Mr. Negative opens 0-1 with what may have been the wrong side of an absolute, dead-in-the-water, mortal, lead-pipe LOCK OF THE YEAR with TCU.

But he shall regain his composure with 5 units on BYU, a team that might be the best offense in NCAA Division I.

5* Winner on BYU. I finally hit the big game.

Tomorrow's play will be Rice...only need to determine the number of units.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try some time, you might find, you get what you need.

Been travelling with no access to the web, but having best bowl season ever. I have picked 8 of the last 12 since Rice game above for very small wagers not counting Cal halftime winner which got me off the Tx A&M front end. Today I have:

              1* Tenn -4
              1* Neb +3 -120
              1* Neb-Aub Over 46
              1* Wisc-Ark Over 46
              5* Ga Tech +10
              1* Mich -1

              Still studying Oklahoma game.

                    Adding a 2* Over 47 in Mich-USC

Switching sides to a 1* on USC +3 -120. If already on Michigan, make it a 2* on USC +3 -120 to offset.

                    Books need USC BIG!

A nice big W for me on my second favorite bowl play with Ga Tech. Ga Tech and BYU have really helped me this season!

                        Tonight:
2* Louisville -10. I bought down to -9.5 just for kicks.
I love Wake Forest as a team, but I believe Louisville to be a Top 5 team in Division I. If they play steady like they have all year, I expect a double-digit win. Also, a favorite is overdue to cover a bowl spread!! I look at Wake's performance against Clemson and Va Tech for "pick logic."

14 units won, 7 lost posted so far.

                            1* Notre Dame +8.5

Not sure why I like this as LSU can score easy on the ND defense. ND may score enough to cover the 8.5 which has been golden lately when taking bowl points. Would not be surprised if LSU won 45-28 either. Just thinking LSU may not be as interested in this game as ND will be since they've lost 8 straight bowl games. Combine that with the "they don't have a chance" factor. Kind of like Boise last night. Don't like the Over as the line is just too high for me (56).

Now 16 units won and 7 lost for me.
